Soft Robotic Snake with Tunable Undulatory Gait for Efficient Underwater Locomotion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study designs an underwater soft snake robot using 3D‐printed soft actuators, controlled by specific signals to generate sinusoidal undulation. Results show a positive correlation between speed and swing amplitude, with optimal performance at 2/3π phase offset, PLA tail, 1.2 voltage growth rate, and 6s undulation period achieving a maximum speed ...

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

Toward Usable and Accessible Two-Factor Authentication Based on the Piezo-Gyro Channel

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is crucial for protecting the security of users authenticating to online servers. Despite its importance, users hesitate to use 2FA, due to usability issues.

Flexible IMU Sensor Array For 3D Colonoscope Shape Reconstruction and AI‐Based Loop Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We propose a sensing platform for 3D visualization of the colonoscope combined with artificial intelligence (AI)‐based loop detection. The system consists of an array of 15 inertial measurement units (IMUs) mounted on a flexible printed circuit board that can be retrofitted into the instrument channel of conventional colonoscopes.

Control of Frequency Combs with Passive Resonators

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Tailored optical frequency combs are generated by nesting passive etalons within mode-locked oscillators. In this work, the oscillator generates a comb of 6.8 GHz with 106 MHz side-bands.

Gyroscopic polynomials

open access: yesJournal of Computational Physics, 2023
Gyroscopic alignment of a fluid occurs when flow structures align with the rotation axis. This often gives rise to highly spatially anisotropic columnar structures that in combination with complex domain boundaries pose challenges for efficient numerical discretizations and computations.

High‐Speed Altitude Regulation With Neuromorphic Camera and Lightweight Embedded Computation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Neuromorphic cameras deliver rapid, high‐dynamic‐range sensing but overwhelm embedded processors at high speeds. This work presents a lightweight, optimized Lucas–Kanade optical flow method with parallelization, gyroscopic derotation, and adaptive event slicing.

An Instrumented Mouthguard for Real-Time Measurement of Head Kinematics under a Large Range of Sport Specific Accelerations

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Background: Head impacts in sports can produce brain injuries. The accurate quantification of head kinematics through instrumented mouthguards (iMG) can help identify underlying brain motion during injurious impacts.
