Genotypic spectrum of albinism in Mali

We report the molecular analysis of a series a 23 patients originating from Mali. Four were diagnosed with OCA 1 (oculocutaneous albinism type 1), 17 with OCA 2, and two with OCA 4. Four novel pathogenic variants were identified (two in TYR, two in OCA2).

Determinants of the haemoglobin level in patients with sickle cell disease living in sub‐Saharan Africa: Major impact of the country of residence and independent effects of leucocyte and platelet counts and haemolysis

Multivariate analysis revealed independent associations between Hb level and several factors, including the country of residence, gender, BMI, haemolysis parameters (LDH level, reticulocyte count) and platelet and leucocyte counts. Summary The degree of anaemia in sickle cell disease (SCD) is a well‐known contributor to morbidity and mortality.
