Silene, a versatile model system: from sex and genome evolution to ecology and speciation

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 6, Page 3613-3630, June 2026.
Summary Fundamental and applied research in evolutionary biology benefits from the use of model systems in which approaches from disparate disciplines can be integrated. Here, we review recent progress in evolutionary research on the long‐standing model system Silene, a large genus with a well‐resolved phylogeny and newly available, expanded genomic ...

Study of Crystal Characterization and Chemical Interaction in the Ternary System Ho-Sb-Te

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
Complex methods of physical and chemical analysis: differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray phase analysis (XRD), microstructural analysis (MSA), as well as density and microhardness measurements, were used to study the nature of chemical interaction ...

Sugar provisioning increases parasitoid numbers in agroecosystems but may not reduce pest densities: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
Our findings demonstrate that providing sugar sources reliably supports parasitoid populations and parasitism rate but does not systematically translate into improved pest suppression or yield gains. These results suggest that, for economic and practical reasons, sugar inputs at the edge of cultivated fields should be favoured.

Prions from Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Patients Propagate as Strain Mixtures

open access: yesmBio, 2020
Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (sCJD) cases are currently classified according to the methionine/valine polymorphism at codon 129 of the PRNP gene and the proteinase K-digested abnormal prion protein (PrPres) isoform identified by Western blotting ...

Stufenweises diversitätsbeschränktes maschinelles Lernen für die Optimierung hochdimensionaler Reaktionsbedingungen

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 17, 20 April 2026.

Ethanol Extract From Ganoderma atrum Alleviates Obesity Through Modulating Gut Microbiota and Metabolism

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 2, March 2026.
EEG potentially exerts anti‐obesity effects by reducing the abundance of Lactobacillus, which subsequently elevates the levels of conjugated bile acids. ABSTRACT Obesity is a serious public health challenge, underscoring the importance of developing natural and effective interventions.

A conceptual framework for revealing rare bacterial species in the gut microbiome through guided data transformation: Beyond enterotypes

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 3, Page 821-836, March 2026.
Abstract The gut microbiota is increasingly recognized as a rich source of biological data that offers critical information on host health, including information on pathological conditions such as cancer, diabetes and other metabolic disorders. Inferring host health from gut bacterial composition using statistical analytical methods remains a challenge.
