Comparing Teriparatide and Bisphosphonates for Postmenopausal Osteoporosis: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of RCTs

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Osteoporosis is a bone disorder highly prevalent in post‐menopausal women and is an important predisposing factor towards bone fractures. It is commonly classified based on BMD, which is estimated via DEXA scan. It is an important issue worldwide and requires a multidisciplinary approach to be controlled.

Artificial Intelligence–Driven Colonoscopy: A Systematic Review and Network Meta‐Analysis on System Performance for Colorectal Neoplasia Detection

open access: yesJGH Open, Volume 10, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major global health issue, with adenomatous polyps as the main precursors. Standard colonoscopy is the gold standard, but its effectiveness is limited by operator variability and missed lesions. Artificial Intelligence (AI)‐assisted colonoscopy is emerging to enhance detection, but a comparative ...

Multifacet Roles of Cellular Senescence in Cancer: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Cellular senescence shapes tumor progression through both antitumor and protumor mechanisms. Senescence triggered by telomere shortening restricts malignant transformation and limits tumor cell proliferation, while the senescence‐associated secretory phenotype (SASP) secretion enhances antitumor immunity by activating cytotoxic T cells.

Stability and Changes in Social Network Profiles After Widowhood and Their Implications for Depressive Symptoms Among Older Adults in South Korea

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 32, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Following the loss of a spouse, older adults often experience changes in their social networks across various dimensions, which may affect their mental health. Guided by continuity, disengagement, and activity theories, which posit diverse trajectories of social network adaptation to spousal loss, this study adopted a typological approach to ...

Polymer‐Based Recycling Strategies for Plastic Waste: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 3, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT Plastic pollution has emerged as one of the most pressing global environmental challenges, affecting ecosystems, human health, and climate through persistent waste accumulation and microplastic formation. This comprehensive review elaborates on recycling techniques based on polymer, including mechanical and chemical recycling, advantages and ...

Probability forecasts – Part 1: ensembles and probabilistic forecasts

open access: yesWeather, Volume 81, Issue 3, Page 82-88, March 2026.
Ensemble weather forecasts have been in use for many years to help forecasters understand uncertainty in weather predictions but are now becoming core to some operational Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) systems. Ensembles offer greater predictive skill and information content than deterministic forecasts but are more complex to interpret and ...

Inconsistent definitions of transplant ineligibility in multiple myeloma: A systematic review

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, Volume 208, Issue 3, Page 829-836, March 2026.
This systematic review of 55 trials reveals significant inconsistency in defining transplant ineligibility for multiple myeloma. Arbitrary age cut‐offs predominantly drive exclusion, while validated frailty tools and specific comorbidities are frequently underutilized.

Leishmania donovani's protein tyrosine phosphatases interact with DUF21 and respond to environmental magnesium

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 6, Page 1754-1770, March 2026.
The Leishmania phosphatase PTP1, and possibly the genetically similar PTP2, interacts with the Leishmania transmembrane protein DUF21. When both ptp1 and ptp2 are knocked out of Leishmania (LdΔPTP1/2), the parasite can no longer survive without magnesium in vitro and has reduced viability in the host macrophage. Conversely, in duf21 knockout (LdΔDUF21),

2025 California Wildfire Observations Using Single Field‐of‐View Sounder Atmospheric Products (SiFSAP)

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract Southern California wildfires result in a significant loss for Los Angeles and San Diego County from January 7 to 31, 2025. Palisades Fire and Eaton fires, the two largest fires that caused most of that damage, were observed by the infrared sounder CrIS and microwave sounder ATMS aboard a polar‐orbit satellite of the National Oceanic and ...

Maternal O‐GlcNAc Transferase Is Required for the Asymmetry of Epigenetic Modifications in Mouse Zygotes

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
OGT inhibition during in vitro oocyte maturation disrupts epigenetic asymmetry in the zygote. It reduces male pronuclear size and eliminates DNA methylation asymmetry by decreasing H3K9me2‐mediated 5mC protection in the female pronucleus and suppressing TET3‐dependent DNA demethylation in the male pronucleus.
