Antigenic competition between minor (Non-H-2) histocompatibility antigens

Immunogenetics, 1981
The potential for interactions between different antigens in grafted tissue is important, for practical reasons, to the transplant surgeon. In addition, these interactions can provide the immunologist with an insight into complex cellmediated immune responses. Minor histocompatibility antigens are both useful and convenient for experimental examination

H-2 haplotypes, genes and antigens: Second listing

Immunogenetics, 1983
In this second part of the Second Listing, we describe genes that constitute the H-2 complex proper. Here, we define the complex functionally as consisting of class I and class II loci (see Klein et al. 1983a). The H-2-associated complement loci and the Neu-1 locus have been described in the first part of the Second Listing (Klein et al. 1982), but for

Lymphocyte recognition of H‐2 antigen in liposomes

Journal of Supramolecular Structure and Cellular Biochemistry, 1981
AbstractLiposomes containing purified H‐2Kk will specifically stimulate generation of a secondary allogeneic cytolytic T lymphocyte response. Effective recognition was found to depend on the structure of the liposomes. Including detergent‐insoluble plasma membrane matrix during formation resulted in liposomes having two‐ to fourfold more activity than ...

H‐2 Antigen Frequencies Among Wild Mice From Chile

Tissue Antigens, 1981
Thirty‐five wild mice (Mus musculus L.) were captured at four different localities in Chile. The mice were typed for the presence of 15 K‐, 11 D‐, 14 A‐, and two E‐region H‐2 antigens, using the complement‐antibody microcytotoxicity assay. The mice from the sample representing the largest locality had a characteristic antigenic profile distinguishing ...

EXTRACTION OF H-2 ANTIGEN FROM MOUSE

Transplantation, 1964
Methods of breaking BP8 (C3H) ascites sarcoma cells have been compared with respect to the release from the cells of histocompatibility antigen as measured by haemagglutination inhibition. Hypotonic lysis of the cells liberates antigen, leaving the nuclei intact and easily sedimentable.

H‐2 antigens on murine leukemia cells and viruses

International Journal of Cancer, 1972
AbstractElectron microscopic analysis of the distribution of H‐2 (b, d, k) antigens on the cell surface and viruses of Rauscher, Friend, Graffi, Mazurenko, Gross and SZ leukemia was carried out using the hybrid antibody test.H‐2 antigens occupied different areas on the surface of the cells, but their average content per 100 randomly selected cells ...

Latent help to and from H‐2 antigens

European Journal of Immunology, 1992
AbstractAn optimized system for probing allo‐immunity to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) antigens by means of adoptive transfer is used to confirm and extend previous work showing that naturally occurring class I MHC antigens, while capable of inducing Th activity when presented in combination with other allo‐antigens, fail to do so on their own.

Cytotoxicity against tumour-associated antigens not H–2 restricted

Nature, 1977
CYTOTOXIC thymus-derived lymphocytes (T cells) can be generated both in vivo and in vitro against many different types of cell surface antigen (reviewed in ref. 1). There have been several reports that when mice were injected with non-oncogenic viruses2–4 or when spleen lymphocytes were sensitised in vitro against chemically modified syngeneic cells5 ...

H-2 haplotypes, genes, and antigens: Second listing

Immunogenetics, 1982
The downpour of information about the H-2 complex has hit immunology with the force of a tropical rainstorm. It is flooding whole fields, uprooting carefully cultivated orchards, displacing cottages, houses, and palaces, threatening to drown their inhabitants. This and the following article (Klein et al. 1982) are meant to serve as kinds of life-savers

Analogies between embryonic (T/t) antigens and adult major histocompatibility (H-2) antigens

Nature, 1975
Progress has been made in defining cell surface components specified by the T/t locus in the mouse, both in their expression on sperm and, in the one case studied, on normal embryonic cells and teratocarcinoma. Some striking analogies between this putative embryonic cell recognition system and the adult major histocompatibility complex are presented.
