Adductor T and H reflexes in humans
Muscle & Nerve, 2006AbstractIn the belief that changes in the adductor reflex (AR) may be helpful in evaluating lumbar root and plexus lesions, expression of the AR was studied in 43 healthy human subjects. ARs elicited with an electronic reflex hammer were recorded from the inner side of the proximal thigh using needle and surface electrodes, and patellar reflexes (PRs ...

H reflex latency in the healthy elderly
Muscle & Nerve, 1994AbstractThe purpose of this study was to evaluate prospectively and analyze the relationship of tibial nerve H reflex latency to age, sex, leg length, and skin temperature in a large healthy elderly population. The H reflex was recorded bilaterally in 92% of 103 carefully screened individuals aged 60–88 years. The mean H reflex latency was 30.8 (SD = 2.

Fractal correlation in human H-reflex
Experimental Brain Research, 1990The amplitude of the H-reflex has been known to have considerable variability even if the intensity of the stimulation is held constant. However, previous studies largely ignored the time-dependent profile of this variability. Recent mathematical analyses have shown that some seemingly irregular biological signals have fractal properties.

H-Reflex waveform and latency variability in rats
Fundamental and Applied Toxicology, 1984The right tibial nerve of each of 11 anesthetized male Fischer 344 rats was electrically stimulated at the ankle, and H-reflexes were recorded simultaneously from four locations in the hind foot. Needle electrodes were used for stimulating and recording. The mean (+/- SD) latency to the dominant peak of the H reflex was 10.21 +/- 0.75 msec.

H reflex and spinal excitability: methodological considerations
Journal of Neurophysiology, 2012The Hoffmann reflex has been the tool most commonly used in exercise studies to investigate modulations in spinal excitability. However, the evolution of electromyographic responses with the increase in stimulation intensity has rarely been assessed when the muscle is active.

Quadriceps H-Reflex Modulation During Pedaling
Journal of Neurophysiology, 2006The main aims of this study were 1) to investigate possible phase-, speed-, and task-dependent changes in the quadriceps H-reflex during pedaling, and to achieve this, 2) to develop an optimized H-reflex recording and processing procedure for recording of quadriceps H-reflexes during movement.

The effect of gammahydroxy‐butyrate on the H‐reflex
Neurology, 1983Gammahydroxybutyrate (GHB) promotes cataplexy when given during the day, but decreases the incidence of daytime cataplexy when given at night. To understand the effects of GHB on this form of motor inhibition, we studied its actions on the H- and F-responses. The H-response is attenuated or abolished during cataplexy.

H-Reflex of Single Motoneurones in Man
Nature, 1968As early as 1918 Hoffmann described how electrical stimulation of the tibial nerve in man evokes, in addition to a direct motor response in the calf muscles, another well synchronized motor response at a latency of about 30 ms1. He concluded that this later response was identical with the myotatic reflex, because it had the following characteristics : (

Contribution of the H‐reflex to the Study of Spasticity in Adolescents
Developmental Medicine & Child Neurology, 1974SUMMARYA group of 21 adolescents suffering from cerebral palsy, who presented spasticity of the lower limbs as the main motor disorder, were investigated by means of establishing the H/max:M/max ratio in the triceps muscles of both legs. The results showed considerable increases of the ratio in all cases studied.
