Designed Metal‐Free Quasi‐1D Crystals with Giant Birefringence
Chemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.Four metal‐free quasi‐chain crystals—(C5H6NO)+(NO3)‐ (4HPN), (C5H6NO)+(HC2O4)‐ (4HPO), (C4N3H6)+(NO3)‐ (2APMN), and (C4N3H6)+(HC2O4)‐·H2O (2APMO)—exhibit both giant birefringence and wide bandgaps and were readily grown as centimeter‐scale crystals via a mild aqueous solution approach.

Chemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.Four cis‐chelating diphosphanes derived from cyclodextrins (CDs), each with various intra‐cavity environments, compel NiII or PdII metal centers to reside within α‐ or β‐CD cavities. Nickel(II) complexes of these metal‐confining ligands act as active catalysts in ethylene oligomerization upon activation with modified methyaluminoxane (MMAO).
