Asymmetric Electrostrain/Electrobending in Piezoelectric Ceramics: Role of Defect Dipoles or Oxygen Vacancies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Defect‐configurational origins of the asymmetric apparent electrostrain are revealed in different piezoelectric ceramics via atomic‐scale visualization of defect configurations. Migration of oxygen vacancies leads to the electrobending effect in N2‐sintered BaTiO3, while defect dipoles in Ba0.99TiO2.99 generate true asymmetric electrostrain without ...

Search for doubly-charged Higgs boson production at HERA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A search for the single production of doubly-charged Higgs bosons H±± in ep collisions is presented. The signal is searched for via the Higgs decays into a high mass pair of same charge leptons, one of them being an electron.

Preparation and Characterization of New Poly (Ether-Ester-Urethane) Membrane and Its Comprehensive Potential Evaluation for Natural Organic Matter Rejection from Water [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering
In this study, the novel poly (ether-ester) urethane membranes, synthesized from poly(dioxanone) (PDO) and poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) triblock copolymers, were introduced for the humic acid removal as a model of natural organic matter from aqueous ...

Sulfated Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharide Sorchestrates the Gut Microbiome to Mobilize a Host‐Derived 12‐HEPE Against Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A sulfated polysaccharide (SCP) from Cyclocarya paliurus alleviates ulcerative colitis by reshaping the gut microbiome. This remodeled microbiota orchestrates the upregulation of the host‐derived lipid 12‐HEPE, which directly inhibits the TLR4/NF‐κB pathway to suppress inflammation.

Measurement of Beauty Production at HERA Using Events with Muons and Jets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A measurement of the beauty production cross section in ep collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 319 GeV is presented. The data were collected with the H1 detector at the HERA collider in the years 1999-2000.

NFYB Integrates Hormonal Signals into Tissue Allometry by Promoting Protein Biosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the American cockroach, NFYB acts as a spatiotemporin that translates distinct hormonal cues into tissue‐specific allometry. Juvenile hormone activates NFYB in the early fat body, while 20‐hydroxyecdysone induces it in late wing pads. NFYB then promotes protein biosynthesis via core translational machinery, driving differential growth across the ...

Prophylaxis of anaphylactoid reactions to a polypeptidal plasma substitute by H1- plus H2-receptor antagonists: synopsis of three randomized controlled trials [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
To demonstrate the efficacy of a premedication with H1- + H2-receptor antagonists against histamine-release responses in anaesthesia and surgery 3 randomized controlled trials were conducted in patients, volunteers and experimental animals (dogs ...

Engineered Optogenetic Circuits In Yeast with Self‐Sustained Outputs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Optogenetic quorum‐sensing (OptoQS) circuit enables Saccharomyces cerevisiae to record transient light stimulus with self‐sustained outputs. Panel a indicates the design of the OptoQS circuit based on G‐protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling cascade. Panel b indicates the mode of action of surrogate messenger‐mediated signal transmission at the cell
