H23 Traditional healing by skin cauterization (kaiy)
British Journal of Dermatology, 2023Abstract The practice of kaiy is an ancient medical traditional therapy that is still used in Africa and the Middle East. Kaiy is the Arabic word for cautery; a red-hot iron or coal is placed to the skin. This causes sharp circular, oval or linear burns that are placed in a symmetrical configuration, usually resulting in permanent scars.

On the Solidification of a H23 Tool Steel
Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals, 2014The H23 tool steel contains high concentration of carbide forming elements, which affect the microstruc- ture and mechanical properties. This present study descri- bed the microstructure and mechanical properties of the as cast H23 tool steel. The steel was prepared by vacuum induction melting.

Microstructural evolution of a heat-treated H23 tool steel
International Journal of Minerals, Metallurgy, and Materials, 2015The microstructure and the stability of carbides after heat treatments in an H23 tool steel were investigated. The heat treatments consisted of austenization at two different austenizing temperatures (1100°C and 1250°C), followed by water quenching and double-aging at 650°C, 750°C, and 800°C with air cooling between the first and second aging ...

Grain yield response of Zea mays (hybrid AE 703) to Azotobacter chroococcum H23
Biology and Fertility of Soils, 1988Field experiments were conducted during 1985 and 1986 to examine the effect of Azotobacter chroococcum on the grain yield of maize. Application of 40 kg N ha−1 plus A. chroococcum caused a significant increase in maize yield. Azotobacter inoculation was more efficient at lower doses (40 kg N ha−1) than at high doses (80 kg N ha−1) of urea.

The tumor-associated antigen MUC1 is a cell surface mucin that is expressed on the apical surface of most glandular epithelial cells, including the ducts of the breast, ovary, pancrease, lung and colon. During malignancy, epithelial tissues regularly display elevated levels of MUC1 in a non-polar fashion and in an underglycosylated form, exposing ...

We describe the production of large amounts of homo- and copolymers of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) by Azotobacter chroococcum strain H23 when growing in culture media amended with alpechin. A. chroococcum grown on NH4+-medium supplemented with alpechin formed PHAs up to 50% of the cell dry weight after 24h.

The Breakdown of Carbide Network in a H23 Tool Steel by Hot Axisymmetric Compression
Advanced Materials Research, 2014The effects of hot axisymmetric compression to break down the primary carbide network of the H23 tool steels were studied. This current study only focused on one strain rate of 0.01 s-1. The samples were deformed at 3 different temperatures (1000, 1050 and 1100 °C) with solutioning temperatures 1100 and 1250 °C, respectively.

Abstract As modern fad diets and chronic illnesses have led to a re-emergence in the presentation of scurvy to dermatology services, we aimed to review the original cohort of patients that gave this condition notoriety – sailors. Scurvy is a disease process secondary to vitamin C deficiency.
