H23 A sailor went to C

British Journal of Dermatology
Abstract As modern fad diets and chronic illnesses have led to a re-emergence in the presentation of scurvy to dermatology services, we aimed to review the original cohort of patients that gave this condition notoriety – sailors. Scurvy is a disease process secondary to vitamin C deficiency.

Production of polyhydroxyalkanoates by Azotobacter chroococcum H23 in wastewater from olive oil mills (alpechin)

International Biodeterioration & Biodegradation, 1996
We describe the production of large amounts of homo- and copolymers of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) by Azotobacter chroococcum strain H23 when growing in culture media amended with alpechin. A. chroococcum grown on NH4+-medium supplemented with alpechin formed PHAs up to 50% of the cell dry weight after 24h.

Humanization and epitope mapping of the H23 anti-MUC1 monoclonal antibody reveals a dual epitope specificity

Molecular Immunology, 2005
The tumor-associated antigen MUC1 is a cell surface mucin that is expressed on the apical surface of most glandular epithelial cells, including the ducts of the breast, ovary, pancrease, lung and colon. During malignancy, epithelial tissues regularly display elevated levels of MUC1 in a non-polar fashion and in an underglycosylated form, exposing ...

Grain yield response of Zea mays (hybrid AE 703) to Azotobacter chroococcum H23

Biology and Fertility of Soils, 1988
Field experiments were conducted during 1985 and 1986 to examine the effect of Azotobacter chroococcum on the grain yield of maize. Application of 40 kg N ha−1 plus A. chroococcum caused a significant increase in maize yield. Azotobacter inoculation was more efficient at lower doses (40 kg N ha−1) than at high doses (80 kg N ha−1) of urea.

Production of poly‐β‐hydroxybutyrate by Azotobacter chroococcum H23 in chemically defined medium and alpechin medium

Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1995
M.V. MARTINEZ‐TOLEDO, J. GONZALEZ‐LOPEZ, B. RODELAS, C. POZO AND V. SALMERON. 1995. Azotobacter chroococcum H23 is able to produce large amounts of poly‐β‐hydroxybutyrate (PHB) during growth in chemically‐defined medium (N‐free or with NH + 4

H23 Monoclonal Antibody Recognizes a Breast Tumor Associated Antigen: Clinical and Molecular Studies

1989
A monoclonal antibody (MoAb) H23 was generated in our laboratory against particles released by the T47D cell line. H23 MoAb recognized specific antigens in 90% of 590 breast tumor biopsies tested by the indirect immunoperoxidase test. Furthermore, the H23 MoAb detects antigens in sera and body fluids of patients with breast carcinoma.

Effect of imperatorin on anoikis in H23 lung cancer cells

Anoikis-sensitization activity of imperatorin, an active furanocoumarin component of Angelica dahurica root, is reported herein for the first time in human lung cancer H23 cell. The present study demonstrated that the imperatorin treatment at sub-toxic concentrations enhanced human lung cancer H23 cell apoptosis after detachment.

Molecular Analysis of H23 Epithelial Tumor Antigen - Differentially Spliced Full Length cDNAs and Gene

1991
The isolation and characterization of the complementary DNAs (cDNAs) and gene which code for an epithelial tumor antigen (H23-ETA), aberrantly expressed in human breast tumor tissue, are described here. A diversity of H23-ETA protein forms, is generated by a series of alternative splicing events that occur in regions located upstream and downstream to ...

EFFECT OF OUABAIN ON THE DETACHMENT OF H23 LUNG CANCER CELL

A human steroid hormone, ouabain, has been shown to play a role in several types of cancer cell behavior; however, its effects on cancer metastasis are largely unknown. Here, we demonstrate in human lung cancer cells that sub-toxic concentrations of ouabain facilitate cancer cell detachment from the extracellular matrix.

Abstract 2680: PCAI-induced phosphorylation of MAP kinase pathway enzymes is associated with cell death of black American lung adenocarcinoma cell line NCI-H23

Cancer Research, 2022
Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality accounting for 23% of cancer deaths in the US. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLCs) comprises 84% of all lung cancer cases, and of these, 40% are lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).
