Counting Lines on Quartic Surfaces

open access: yes, 2015
We prove the sharp bound of at most 64 lines on complex projective quartic surfaces (resp. affine quartics) that are not ruled by lines. We study configurations of lines on certain non-K3 surfaces of degree four and give various examples of singular ...

Periodontal pathogens and cancer development

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, Volume 96, Issue 1, Page 112-149, October 2024.
Abstract Increasing evidence suggests a significant association between periodontal disease and the occurrence of various cancers. The carcinogenic potential of several periodontal pathogens has been substantiated in vitro and in vivo. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the diverse mechanisms employed by different periodontal pathogens in

α‐d‐2′‐Deoxyadenosine, an irradiation product of canonical DNA and a component of anomeric nucleic acids: crystal structure, packing and Hirshfeld surface analysis

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section C, Volume 80, Issue 2, Page 21-29, February 2024.
α‐d‐2′‐Deoxyadenosine, the anomer of the canonical nucleoside β‐d‐2′‐deoxyadenosine, is a γ‐irradiation product of DNA and a constituent of anomeric DNA. The single‐crystal X‐ray analysis reveals the formation of two conformers with unusual conformational parameters for α‐nucleosides.

Potential role of epithelial–mesenchymal transition induced by periodontal pathogens in oral cancer

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 28, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract With the increasing incidence of oral cancer in the world, it has become a hotspot to explore the pathogenesis and prevention of oral cancer. It has been proved there is a strong link between periodontal pathogens and oral cancer. However, the specific molecular and cellular pathogenic mechanisms remain to be further elucidated.

Extended Higgs Sectors in Radiative Neutrino Models

open access: yes, 2017
Testable Higgs partners may be sought within the extensions of the SM Higgs sector aimed at generating neutrino masses at the loop level. We study a viability of extended Higgs sectors for two selected models of radiative neutrino masses: a one-loop mass

An easy preparation of pyridinium N-heteroarylaminides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A synthesis of substituted pyridinium N-heteroarylaminides, e.g., I, is reported. Heteroaryl chlorides underwent nucleophilic substitution with N-aminopyridinium iodide to give the corresponding substituted pyridinium N-heteroarylaminides in good yields.

Effective Field Theory: A Modern Approach to Anomalous Couplings

open access: yes, 2012
We advocate an effective field theory approach to anomalous couplings. The effective field theory approach is the natural way to extend the standard model such that the gauge symmetries are respected.

Assessment of fetal left cardiac isovolumic relaxation time in appropriate and small-for-gestational-age fetuses [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Left ventricular isovolumic relaxation time was studied in 22 appropriate-for-gestational-age fetuses (AGA, 26–40 wk) and 12 small-for-gestational-age fetuses (SGA, 29–37 wk).
