Nuclear and chloroplast DNA phylogeography reveals high genetic diversity and postglacial range expansion in Quercus mexicana

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 110, Issue 12, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Premise Phylogeographical studies are fundamental for understanding factors that influence the spatial distribution of genetic lineages within species. Population expansions and contractions, distribution shifts, and climate changes are among the most important factors shaping the genetic compositions of populations.

The Prenucleation Equilibrium of the Parathyroid Hormone Determines the Critical Aggregation Concentration and Amyloid Fibril Nucleation

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 24, Issue 19, October 4, 2023., 2023
The functional amyloid fibril forming parathyroid hormone exhibits a prenucleation monomer‐oligomer equilibrium with concentration dependent cluster sizes. Here, the critical concentration for fibril formation is the minimum concentration of a trimer/tetramer which is furthermore involved in primary fibril nucleation.

Tyr76 is essential for the cold adaptation of a class II glutaredoxin 4 with a heat‐labile structure from the Arctic bacterium Sphingomonas sp.

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 13, Issue 3, Page 500-510, March 2023., 2023
Members of the Fe‐S cluster binding class II glutaredoxin 4 family possess different aromatic amino acids on the β3‐strand (cis‐proline plus3) depending on the temperature of the habitat to stabilize the cis‐proline loop. A tyrosine residue with a phenyl hydroxyl group is preferred at lower and higher temperatures, as it compensates for the reduced ...

HFE Gene Variants Modify the Association between Maternal Lead Burden and Infant Birthweight: A Prospective Birth Cohort Study in Mexico City, Mexico

open access: yesEnvironmental Health, 2010
Background Neonatal growth is a complex process involving genetic and environmental factors. Polymorphisms in the hemochromatosis (HFE) iron regulatory genes have been shown to modify transport and toxicity of lead which is known to affect birth weight ...

Synthesis and crystal structures of new chiral 3‐amino‐2H‐azirines and the Pd complex of one of them

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section C, Volume 79, Issue 3, Page 104-111, March 2023., 2023
Three new 3‐amino‐2H‐azirine derivatives have been synthesized as racemates or mixtures of diastereoisomers. Comparison of their crystal structures with those of the 11 other 3‐amino‐2H‐azirines in the literature reveal that the formal N—C single bond in the azirine ring is consistently long at around 1.57 Å.3‐Amino‐2H‐azirines are potentially ...

Membrane Anchorage‐Induced (MAGIC) Knockdown of Non‐synonymous Point Mutations**

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 23, Issue 11, June 3, 2022., 2022
A new approach for inhibiting the expression of non‐synonymous single nucleotide genetic variant (nsSNV) is depicted in this image. Membrane anchorage‐induced (MAGIC) knockdown of nsSNV occurs when specific polysomal polypeptides are recruited to inner cell membranes via membrane tethered phospholipid‐conjugated point mutation‐specific monoclonal ...
