IC 5146 Dark Streamer: The First Reliable Candidate of Edge Collapse, Hub-filament Systems, and Intertwined Sub-filaments

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The paper presents an analysis of multiwavelength data of a nearby star-forming site, the IC 5146 dark streamer ( d ∼ 600 pc), which has been treated as a single and long filament, fl .

The Stellar Content of Obscured Galactic Giant H II Regions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Near infrared images of the Galactic giant HII region W43 reveal a dense stellar cluster at its center. Broad band JHK photometry of the young cluster and K-band spectra of three of its bright stars are presented.

Financial Burden Associated With Hospitalisation Among Families of Childhood Brain Tumours in Australia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Families of children with cancer experience significant financial strain, even with universal healthcare. Indirect costs, such as productivity losses and non‐medical expenses, are rarely included in economic evaluations, and little is known about how effectively financial aid programmes alleviate this burden. Childhood brain tumours

The Detection of Higher-order Millimeter Hydrogen Recombination Lines in the Large Magellanic Cloud

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We report the first extragalactic detection of the higher-order millimeter hydrogen recombination lines (Δ n > 2). The γ -, ϵ -, and η -transitions have been detected toward the millimeter continuum source N 105–1 A in the star-forming region N 105 in ...

The Ionization Equilibrium of Iron in H II Regions [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2004
We study the ionization equilibrium of Fe using photoionization models that incorporate improved values for the relevant atomic data. The previously available photoionization models predict concentrations of Fe3+ which are a factor of 3-8 higher than the values inferred from emission lines of [Fe III] and [Fe IV].

Feasibility and Safety of High‐Dose Proton Re‐Irradiation in Recurrent Pediatric Central Nervous System Tumors: A Single‐Institution Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors often recur despite multimodality therapy. Although re‐irradiation (re‐RT) has historically been limited by concerns for severe late toxicities, modern techniques have renewed interest in this approach. Proton therapy provides dosimetric advantages that may enable curative re‐treatment with

ALMA-IMF. XIV. Free–Free Templates Derived from H41α and Ionized Gas Content in 15 Massive Protoclusters

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
We use the H41 α recombination line to create templates of the millimeter free–free emission in the ALMA-IMF continuum maps, which allows us to separate it from dust emission.

On the O/H, Mg/H, Si/H and Fe/H Gas and Dust Abundance Ratios in Galactic and Extragalactic H II Regions

open access: yes, 2010
We derive the Mg/H ratio in the Orion nebula and in 30 Doradus. We also derive the O/H and the Fe/O ratios in the extremely metal poor galaxy SBS 0335-052.

Wind bubbles within H II regions around slowly moving stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Interstellar bubbles around O stars are driven by a combination of the star's wind and ionizing radiation output. The wind contribution is uncertain because the boundary between the wind and interstellar medium is difficult to observe.
