Water Consumption in Hydrogen Production Through Electrolysis: Overview, State‐of‐the‐Art, and Future Trends

open access: yesWIREs Energy and Environment, Volume 15, Issue 2, June 2026.
Commercial‐scale “green” hydrogen projects use renewable electricity to drive electrolysis—the process of splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. Producing green hydrogen requires water not only for the electrolysis reaction but also for cooling the electrolyzers, which release waste heat.

Resistance and Recovery of Crop Productivity From Contrasted Soil Fertility

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The balance between crop production and environmental sustainability depends on an adequate supply of soil nutrients, although changes in nutrient supply may initially have little effect on crop production due to the buffering effects of soil nutrients and the overall resilience of the system.

Radiocatalytic synthesis of ammonia under ambient conditions with efficiency exceeding that of Haber–Bosch process

open access: yes
Abstract Ammonia is an essential component to keep the world fed and fueled, but its industrial production through Haber–Bosch process requires high pressure and high temperature and is, therefore, energy- and emission-intensive. Few ammonia synthesis techniques have granted the capability to achieve comparable efficiency so far, even those ...
