Hypothalamic POMC Neurons Gate the Fear‐Feeding Trade‐Off

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hungry animals must continually arbitrate between feeding and defensive behaviors when confronted with potential threats. We show that hypothalamic POMC neurons engage CRH‐expressing stress circuits and downstream hormonal responses to coordinate this behavioral selection between competing behaviors.

Arhgef1 Deletion Disrupts Early Cortical Neurogenesis via PAK1 Overactivation and Causes Motor Dysfunction in Adulthood

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARHGEF1 plays a pivotal role in both embryonic cortical neurogenesis and adult motor function. During early development, it governs genesis of deep‐layer cortical neurons by negatively regulating RAC1/CDC42‐PAK1‐Cofilin signaling. In adulthood, ARHGEF1 is important for the maintenance of neuronal morphology and activity in the motor cortex, ensuring ...

Habits and Endogenous Investment Fluctuations [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper envisages whether an external habit effect can produce indeterminate equilibrium paths thereby generating endogenous investment fluctuations. In an otherwise standard optimal growth model with leisure, we find that an external habit effect can

Propofol Modulates Fear Memory Reconsolidation by Inhibiting D2 Receptor‐Expressing Neurons in the Medial Prefrontal Cortex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that propofol modulates fear‐memory reconsolidation in mice. It works by suppressing D2 receptor‐expressing neurons within the medial prefrontal cortex and their connections to the basolateral amygdala. D2‐receptor agonists reproduce this fear‐reducing effect, offering potential non‐anesthetic therapeutic strategies for trauma‐related ...

Transforming Habit: Revolution, Routine and Social Change

open access: yes, 2017
Compelling recent scholarly work has explored the crucial role affect, emotion and feeling might play in activating radical social and political change. I argue, however, that some narratives of ‘affective revolution’ may actually do more to obscure than

A Novel Bioactive Component, Efoba, From Aged Garlic Targets CTSC to Suppress NET‐Driven Neuroinflammation and Ameliorate Secondary Brain Injury After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Efoba, a novel bioactive component derived from aged garlic, confers neuroprotection against intracerebral hemorrhage. It acts on microglia to suppress CTSC release, inhibits NET‐mediated neural injury, and blocks pathological microglia‐neutrophil crosstalk. This study provides a highly promising lead compound for hemorrhagic‐stroke therapy.

Households' Consumption under the Habit Formation Hypothesis. Evidence from Italian Households using the Survey of Household Income and Wealth (SHIW) [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper explores the mis-specification of preferences as a cause of the poor empirical performance of the traditional Life Cycle/Permanent Income model in explaining Italian households' consumption decisions.

Targeting Mitochondrial Redox Signaling Promotes Neuroregeneration and Functional Recovery in a Multiple Sclerosis Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Modulation of mitochondrial redox signaling by furapyrrodole activates CYB5R3 and suppresses Notch signaling, unlocking the regenerative potential of endogenous neural progenitor cells. This approach promotes neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and remyelination, thereby improving neuronal function in a mouse model of multiple sclerosis and identifying ...

Early‐Life Polyethylene Microplastic Exposure Exacerbates ADHD‐Like Behaviors in Mice via PI3K/AKT1/Nrf2 Signaling: Evidence From the Pilot Cohort and Multi‐Omics Analyses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Circulating polyethylene microplastic burden is positively associated with heightened ADHD symptom severity and systemic redox‐inflammatory imbalance in children. Mechanistic investigation in a developmental co‐exposure mouse model further demonstrates that microplastics aggravate ADHD‐like behaviors, dopaminergic dysregulation, and oxidative ...
