A Foundation Model Based CT Biomarker for Non‐Invasive Prediction of Response to Neoadjuvant Immunochemotherapy in Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a foundation model‐based biomarker for risk stratification of pathological response in non‐small cell lung cancer. A Vision Mamba super‐resolution model standardizes heterogeneous CT images. A multi‐task Swin Transformer then fine‐tunes a pre‐trained lung foundation model to jointly optimize tumor segmentation and response ...

Habitat selection by two beluga whale populations in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
There has been extensive sea ice loss in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas where two beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) populations occur between July-November.

T2T Genome Assembly and Multi‐Omics Data Reveal Terrestrial Adaptation and Mucus Biosynthesis in Tropical Leatherleaf Slug (Laevicaulis alte)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A gap‐free genome assembly and multi‐omics comparison of the terrestrial slug Laevichaulis alte with an aquatic relative reveal that expansion of the VEGF family orchestrates mucus production, lipid metabolism, and immune defense—highlighting key molecular innovations for conquering life on land.

Stromal Regulation of Tumor Perineural Invasion: A Multicellular and Neuro‐Ecological Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review reframes perineural invasion (PNI) as a dynamic, multicellular process within the tumor–nerve–stromal ecosystem. The authors delineate how cancer‐associated fibroblasts, Schwann cells, and immune cells remodel the neural niche to facilitate tumor spread.

Determining factor in habitat selection of Paracobitis iranica (Nalbant & Bianco 1998) population in Kordan River, Namak Lake Basin, Iran [PDF]

open access: yesبوم‌شناسی آبزیان, 2014
Considering the fact that fish biodiversity conservation and land uses planning, require reliable information about fish distribution and habitat use patterns In order to describe species habitat properties, habitat use and habitat selectivity indices ...

Hemp Cultivation and Crop Diversification: Implications for Ecosystem Services in Kentucky

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the ecosystem benefits of expanding hemp cultivation by assessing its impact on crop diversity. Using scenario‐based simulations and fixed‐effect panel regressions with county‐level data in Kentucky, we find that increased hemp acreage tends to enhance crop diversity, improving water quality and bird diversity.

Modelling individual variability in habitat selection and movement using integrated step‐selection analysis

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
Integrated step‐selection analysis (ISSA) is frequently used to study habitat selection using animal movement data. Methods for incorporating random effects in ISSA have been developed, making it possible to quantify variability among animals in their ...

Phenotypic divergence across populations does not affect habitat selection in an Amazonian poison frog

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Understanding intraspecific variation in habitat selection by polytypic species, where distinct variants occur in separate populations, can improve our knowledge of population-specific selective pressures and inform conservation measures.

A Permutation-based Combination of Sign Tests for Assessing Habitat Selection [PDF]

open access: yes
The analysis of habitat use in radio-tagged animals is approached by comparing the portions of use vs the portions of availability observed for each habitat type.

Effects of Environmental and Health Information on Willingness to Pay for Local and Organic Foods in Taiwan

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Using a lab‐in‐the‐field experiment, we investigate how providing information about food miles and pesticide residue influences willingness to pay (WTP) for potatoes among 407 shoppers in Taiwan, split between a supermarket and a farmers market.
