Subtropical Pacific SST Variability Related to the Local Hadley Circulation during the Premature Stage of ENSO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Formation processes of negative (positive) sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTAs) in the subtropical North and South Pacific associated with the ENSO warm (cold) events are examined using reanalysis and in-situ observational datasets.

The Source of Arctic Precipitation in HadGEM3‐GC5

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract Snow and rain are increasing in the Arctic. Climate model projections indicate a 50% increase in precipitation by the end of the century. This increase is driven by increased local evaporation following reduced sea ice coverage alongside enhanced global evaporation and transport into the Arctic.

A conceptual model for self‐sustained active‐break Indian summer monsoon

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2012
The Indian summer monsoon (ISM) exhibits a salient intraseasonal oscillation (ISO), and there have two ISO variability centers that are located at the equatorial Indian Ocean (EIO) and ISM regions, respectively.

Assessment of Tropical Cyclones Over the Australian Region From Downscaled CORDEX‐CMIP6 Simulations

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract Tropical cyclones (TCs) cause major economic losses in Australia due to severe winds and floods; however global climate models (GCMs) are too coarse to properly resolve them. Here, we dynamically downscale ERA5 reanalysis and 16 CMIP6 simulations from 11 GCMs using the Conformal Cubic Atmospheric Model (CCAM) to a ∼10 km resolution over the ...

Drastic shrinking of the Hadley circulation during the mid-Cretaceous supergreenhouse

open access: yes, 2011
. Understanding the behaviour of the global climate system during extremely warm periods is one of the major themes of paleoclimatology. Proxy data demonstrate that the equator-to-pole temperature gradient was much lower during the mid-Cretaceous ...

Baroclinic Eddies and the Extent of the Hadley Circulation: An Idealized GCM Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The Hadley circulation has widened over the past 30 years. This widening has been qualitatively reproduced in general circulation model (GCM) simulations of a warming climate.

Information and the Scope of Liability for Breach of Contract: The Rule of Hadley V. Baxendale [PDF]

open access: yes
According to the contract law principle established in the famous nineteenth century English case of Hadley v. Baxendale, and followed ever since in the common law world, liability for a breach of contract is limited to losses "arising ...

Understanding the response of tropical overturning circulations to greenhouse gas and aerosol forcing

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Climate
While observational records provide evidence for strengthening of the Pacific Walker circulation and the boreal winter Hadley cell over the last few decades, the underlying causes are not well understood.

Characterizing the Hadley circulation response through regional climate feedbacks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The robust weakening of the tropical atmospheric circulation in projections of anthropogenic warming is associated with substantial changes in regional and global climate.
