In vivo dosimetry for proton therapy: A Monte Carlo study of the Gadolinium spectral response throughout the course of treatment

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 4, Page 2412-2424, April 2025.
Abstract Background In proton radiotherapy, the steep dose deposition profile near the end of the proton's track, the Bragg peak, ensures a more conformed deposition of dose to the tumor region when compared with conventional radiotherapy while reducing the probability of normal tissue complications.

Hadron mass corrections in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering

open access: yes, 2015
The spin-dependent cross sections for semi-inclusive lepton-nucleon scattering are derived in the framework of collinear factorization, including the effects of masses of the target and produced hadron at finite momentum transfer squared Q^2.

Search for the production of a Higgs boson in association with a single top quark in pp collisions at s = 13 $$ \sqrt{s}=13 $$ TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
A search for the production of a Higgs boson in association with a single top quark, tH, is presented. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb −1 at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected ...

Saturation of optimality limits in hadron-hadron scatterings

open access: yes, 2003
In this paper the optimal unitarity lower bound on logarithmic slope of the diffraction peak is investigated. It is shown that the unitarity lower bound is just the optimal logarithmic slopes predicted by the principle of least distance in space of states.

Electron beam monitoring of a modified conventional medical accelerator with a portable current transformer system traceable to primary electrical standards

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 4, Page 2581-2592, April 2025.
Abstract Background Ultra‐high dose rate radiotherapy (UHDR) delivers therapeutic doses at rates >40 Gy/s in a fraction of a second, aiming to enhance the therapeutic ratio through the FLASH effect. The substantial increase in UHDR beam current poses serious challenges for conventional active dosimeters.

Probing the Higgs boson CP properties in vector-boson fusion production in the H → τ + τ − channel with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The CP properties of the Higgs boson are studied in the vector-boson fusion production mode. The analysis exploits the decay mode of the Higgs boson into two τ-leptons using 140 fb −1 of proton-proton collision data at s = 13 $$ \sqrt{s}=13 $$ TeV ...

Ferrites with a Minimized Secondary Electron Yield

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 10, March 13, 2025.
Ferrites are a key material in particle accelerators and space science, exposing them to high energy electrons and leading to multipacting, charging and electron cloud formation. Laser engineered surface structures are shown to dramatically reduce the secondary electron yield of ferrite eliminating these issues.

Differential cross-section measurements of the production of four charged leptons in association with two jets using the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Differential cross-sections are measured for the production of four charged leptons in association with two jets. These measurements are sensitive to final states in which the jets are produced via the strong interaction as well as to the purely ...

Measurement of the Z γ → ν ν ¯ γ $$ Z\gamma \to \nu \overline{\nu}\gamma $$ production cross section in pp collisions at s = 13 $$ \sqrt{s}=13 $$ TeV with the ATLAS detector and limits on anomalous triple gauge-boson couplings

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
The production of Z bosons in association with a high-energy photon (Zγ production) is studied in the neutrino decay channel of the Z boson using pp collisions at s = 13 $$ \sqrt{s}=13 $$ TeV. The analysis uses a data sample with an integrated luminosity

Exploring Dark Photon Production and Kinetic Mixing Constraints in Heavy‐Ion Collisions

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 3-4, March-May 2025.
ABSTRACT Vector U‐bosons, often referred to as “dark photons,” are potential candidates for mediating dark matter interactions. In this study, we outline a procedure to derive theoretical constraints on the upper bound of the kinetic mixing parameter ϵ2MU$$ {\upvarepsilon}^2\left({M}_U\right) $$ using dilepton data from heavy‐ion from SIS to RHIC ...
