Two Micron‐Size Dark Dimensions

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Two extra dimensions of micron scale might simultaneously address the gauge and cosmological hierarchy problems. In this paper various observational bounds in scenarios with one and two large extra dimensions are examined, to see if they are compatible with the micron scale.

Two-loop QCD corrections to the scattering of massless distinct quarks. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present the two-loop virtual QCD corrections to the scattering of distinct massless quarks, , in conventional dimensional regularisation. The structure of the infrared divergences agrees with that predicted by Catani while expressions for the finite ...

Search for supersymmetry using vector boson fusion signatures and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
This paper presents a search for supersymmetric particles in models with highly compressed mass spectra, in events consistent with being produced through vector boson fusion. The search uses 140 fb −1 of proton-proton collision data at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ =

Experimental validation of Geant4 nuclear interaction models in dose calculations of therapeutic carbon ion beams

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract Background The choice of nuclear interaction models in Monte Carlo simulations affects the dose calculation accuracy for light ion beam therapy. Purpose This study aimed to evaluate the dose calculation accuracy and simulation time of three GATE‐RTiON/Geant4 physics lists for therapeutic carbon ion beams, assessing their suitability for ...

Search for dark matter in events with missing transverse momentum and a Higgs boson decaying into two photons in pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
A search for dark-matter particles in events with large missing transverse momentum and a Higgs boson candidate decaying into two photons is reported. The search uses 139 fb −1 of proton-proton collision data collected at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with ...

Field output correction factors using a scintillation detector

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 6, Page 4844-4861, June 2025.
Abstract Background As small radiation fields play an ever‐increasing role in radiation therapy, accurate dosimetry of these fields becomes critical to ensure high quality dose calculation and treatment optimization. Despite the availability of several small volume dose detectors, small field dosimetry remains challenging.

A comparative analysis of GEANT4, MCNP6 and FLUKA on proton‐induced gamma‐ray simulation

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 6, Page 4862-4870, June 2025.
Abstract Background Precise range verification is essential in proton therapy to minimize treatment margins due to the steep dose fall‐off of proton beams. The emission of secondary radiation from nuclear reactions between incident particles and tissues stands out as a promising method for range verification. Two prominent techniques are PET and Prompt

Measurements of the production cross-section for a Z boson in association with b-jets in proton-proton collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
This paper presents a measurement of the production cross-section of a Z boson in association with b-jets, in proton-proton collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider using data corresponding to an ...

Analytical Description of Hadron-Hadron Scattering via Principle of Minimum Distance in Space of States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper an analytical description of the hadron-hadron scattering is presented by using PMD-SQS-optimum principle in which the differential cross sections in the forward and backward c.m.

Performance of the missing transverse momentum triggers for the ATLAS detector during Run-2 data taking

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
The factor of four increase in the LHC luminosity, from 0.5 × 1034 cm −2s −1 to 2.0 × 1034cm −2s −1, and the corresponding increase in pile-up collisions during the 2015–2018 data-taking period, presented a challenge for the ATLAS trigger, particularly ...
