Serum Midkine as a Biomarker for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Treatment Response and Prognostication
Up‐to‐date, tumor markers are considered more helpful in the evaluation of treatment response and prognostication rather than diagnosis. Identifying a valid biomarker to help clinical management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still a challenge, especially the alpha‐fetoprotein (AFP) negative HCC. This study evaluated the efficacy of serum Midkine

It is essential to confirm the performance of Urit 5160 five‐part leucocyte automated haematology analysers by examining objective evidence that the Bamenda Regional Hospital laboratory can achieve the performance characteristics provided by the manufacturers before the analysers are put into use for diagnosis, patient management, and research.

Impact of Different Pre‐Dilution Methods on Routine Blood Test Results: A Study With Sysmex XN‐1000
The wet wipe method demonstrated excellent consistency with automated injection across all five parameters and is recommended as the preferred technique when sample volume is limited. ABSTRACT Objectives To compare three manual pre‐dilution procedures with the automated undiluted mode on the Sysmex XN‐1000 analyzer and to identify an optimal standard ...

This study developed a simple, low‐cost scoring system using routine complete blood count (CBC) and derived immune‐inflammatory indicators (LYM%, PLT, PCT, and PLT × LYM) for early diagnosis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) in 1662 children. Age‐stratified analysis confirmed that key indicators remained significantly higher in the pneumonia ...

This cross‐sectional study analyzed data from 9331 participants aged 24–97 to characterize age‐ and sex‐related physiological trajectories of complete blood cell count (CBC) parameters and derived inflammatory indices. Key findings encompassed age‐related declines in red blood cell and platelet counts, elevations in RDW‐CV indices and monocyte ...

Elevated Hemoglobin A2: A Molecular Revisited, and Implications to β‐Thalassemia Screening
In Thailand, the Hb A2 cut‐off value for β‐thalassemia carrier has been changed from 4.0% to 3.6% since 2015. We examined the molecular basis of β‐thalassemia in a large cohort of Thai subjects with this change. The molecular basis of β‐thalassemia was updated, and a change in the Hb A2 cut‐off can alter this spectrum.

ABSTRACT Hematologic assessment is a common clinical tool used to characterize both individual and population health. In ectothermic organisms, the hematologic response is influenced by external factors such as temperature and season, especially in temperate species. Yet, specific environmental effects have received little direct attention.

ABSTRACT Background The optimal protocol for clinical liver 31P‐magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) remains unclear. Single‐voxel 31P‐MRS using image‐selected in vivo spectroscopy (ISIS) employs respiratory‐triggering (RT) or free‐breathing (FB) acquisition.

Cerebral Blood Transit in Sickle Cell Anemia
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell anemia (SCA) patients upregulate cerebral blood flow to compensate for decreased arterial oxygen content. Such hyperemic conditions can manifest as venous hyperintense signal on arterial spin labeling (ASL) MRI, which may reflect faster capillary blood transit, altered oxygen extraction fraction (OEF), and infarct risk ...
