POEMS Syndrome: 2026 Update on Diagnosis, Risk‐Stratification, and Management

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Disease Overview POEMS syndrome is a life‐threatening syndrome due to an underlying plasma cell neoplasm. The major criteria for the syndrome are polyneuropathy, clonal plasma cell disorder (PCD), sclerotic bone lesions, elevated vascular endothelial growth factor, and the presence of Castleman disease.

Effects of colour and intensity of artificial light produced by incandescent bulbs on the performance traits, thyroid hormones, and blood metabolites of broiler chickens

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2020
Light is an important environmental factor in poultry farm management. Duration, intensity and colour of light (wavelength) can be affected the poultry performance.

Autoantibodies to Extracellular Erythrocyte Band 3 Epitopes Are Associated With Anemia in Plasmodium vivax Infection

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plasmodium vivax‐associated anemia is a multifactorial clinical outcome, in which the destruction of uninfected red blood cells (uRBCs) plays a major role in disease development and severity. Here, we identified autoantibody targets within the extracellular loops of Band 3 (B3), a major erythrocyte transmembrane protein.

Efeito da vitamina C sobre o hematócrito e glicemia de alevinos de tilápia-do-nilo (Oreochromis niloticus) em transporte simulado Effect of vitamin C over the haematocrit and glycemia of nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) alevins in simulated transport

Regional gas exchange evaluation during ex vivo lung perfusion in a swine model of localized lung dysfunction

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) allows the evaluation of lungs that do not meet standard transplantation criteria. Current procedures do not permit the identification of regional functional deficits. We investigated the feasibility of assessing lobar gas exchange during EVLP in a swine model.

The effect of monochromatic light on the blood picture and functional state of the hematopoietic system in laying hens

open access: yesНаукові доповіді Національного університету біоресурсів і природокористування України
This study aimed to investigate the influence of monochromatic lighting on the haematological indices of Hy-Line W-36 laying hens. In the course of the experiment, four groups of birds were exposed to monochromatic lighting of different wavelengths: blue,

Genome‐wide network analysis identifies the lncRNA‐92467/miR‐205‐5p/PTPRM/CAMs axis in a rat model of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The pathogenesis of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) remains unclear. In this study, we explored its key regulatory mechanisms using animal models, RNA sequencing, and cellular assays. We found that lncRNA‐92467 functions as a ceRNA, binding miR‐205‐5p, and thereby upregulating PTPRM, inhibiting abnormal proliferation and migration of endothelial ...

Haematological Tracking of Thyroid Status During Methimazole Therapy and After Treatment Interruption in Hyperthyroid Cats: A Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
Background: Feline hyperthyroidism is the most prevalent endocrine disorder of older cats; TT4 monitoring is costly and often inaccessible. Methods: Forty-three cats with primary hyperthyroidism were followed prospectively at baseline (T0) and at 1, 3 ...

Tunable Regional Targeting of Self‐Assembling Peptide Nanomaterials in Acute Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
In a rat model of acute myocardial infarction, intravascular delivery of peptide nanofibers with a collagen‐targeting peptide bound to the infarct vasculature while globular peptide nanoparticles penetrated into the infarct area. This study demonstrated that size, shape, and surface chemistry of nanomaterials control the delivery location within the ...
