Phagocytic haemocytes in unfixed Galleria mellonella larvae
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1969Abstract Phagocytosis by the haemocytes of unfixed last instar larvae of the greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella (L)., was studied by injecting foreign materials into the haemocoele. Starch granules, sheep erythrocytes, latex particles, Chinese ink, Sarcina lutea , and Staphylococcus epidermidis were readily phagocytized by mitotically ...

In this paper, haemocyte antigenicity of seven bivalve species (scallop (Chlamys farreri), bay scallop (Argoecten irradians), oyster (Crassostrea talienwhanensis), asiatic hard clam (Meretrix meretrix), monila clam (Ruditapes philipinarum), purplish washington clam (Saxidomus purpuratus) and horny ark (Scapharca subcrenta)) were analysed using ...

Eight monoclonal antibodies produced against haemocytes of shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) were used to research the antigenic cross-reactivity of crustacean haemocytes. 2C3 cross-reacted with the haemocytes of all the experimental animals, while 1H8 and 2C11 did not cross-react with the experimental animals.

The inter-relationships of bivalve haemocytes
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 1999Abstract The morphology, tinctorial properties, ultrastructure and some functions of bivalve haemocytes are reviewed in relation to the simple division of these cells into granular and agranular haemocytes, as suggested by Cheng. Whereas granular haemocytes (granulocytes) form a distinct group, agranular haemocytes are heterogeneous in appearance and

Investigation on the Haemocytes and Haemolymph of Honeybees
Journal of Apicultural Research, 1965SUMMARYThe puncture of the dorsal or ventral sinus proved to be the best method of collecting haemolymph from workers and queens. Almost all the workers survived, but many older queens died after the operation. The number of haemocytes per cu. mm. of haemolymph decreased with increasing age of workers, from 20 914 at 1 day old to 11 174 at 30 days old ...

[Studies on haemocytes of Oncomelania hupensis].
Zhongguo ji sheng chong xue yu ji sheng chong bing za zhi = Chinese journal of parasitology & parasitic diseases, 2008To establish method for collecting haemocytes of Oncomelania hupensis and study its morphology and immunological importance.Referring to the method of haemocytes collection from peripheral lymphoid organ, suspension technique was used for collection of haemocytes from snails, which were then Giemsa-stained and observed under microscope.

The role of the haemocytes of Clitumnus extradentatus in haemolymph coagulation
Cell and Tissue Research, 1977Light and electron-microscopic observations of the blood cells (haemocytes) of the stick insect Clitummus extradentatus in vitro showed that two morphologically distinct cell types, the cystocytes and granular cells are involved in haemolymph coagulation.

The structure of the haemocytes of Calpodes ethlius (Lepidoptera)
Journal of Morphology, 1973AbstractThe haemocytes of Calpodes ethlius are described with the light and electron microscopes. Five fine structurally distinct types are distinguishable. However only three of these, the granular haemocytes, sphaerule cells and oenocytoids can be positively identified using a series of histochemical stains on smears and on thick sections of aralditeā

Production of heteroagglutinins in haemocytes ofLeucophaea maderae L.
Experientia, 1976It was our purpose to study the immunological activity of circulating fluid cells in the blattoid insect Leucophaea maderae L. These cells are generically called haemocytes; after a preliminary morphological study under optical microscope, they were treated with anti-heteroagglutinins serum marked with fluorescein isothiocyanate.
