Tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon Fab.) is one of the biggest non-oil and natural gas export fisheries commodity. In the other hand, the culture of this shrimp is highly affected by infectious pathogens and disease control is ciliated protozoa, Zoothamnium ...

Real-time analysis of Drosophila post-embryonic haemocyte behaviour.
BackgroundThe larval stage of the model organism Drosophila is frequently used to study host-pathogen interactions. During embryogenesis the cellular arm of the immune response, consisting of macrophage-like cells known as plasmatocytes, is extremely ...

Haemocyte motility: A marker of inflammation in Mytilus sp
Bivalve immunity relies exclusively on innate cellular and humoral mechanisms, during which cells named haemocytes maraud across tissues to survey the organism and cope with invaders through migration towards infected site. Immune response is therefore governed by haemocyte motility.

Distinguishing Manduca sexta haemocyte types by cytometric methods
Manduca sexta larvae possess haemocytes which are classified according to their appearance into five distinct types typical for Lepidoptera: plasmatocytes (PLs), granular cells (GRs), spherule cells (SPs), oenocytoids (OEs), and prohaemocytes (ProHCs ...

Cellular immune response of Amblyomma sculptum and Amblyomma americanum to entomopathogenic fungi: Implications for biological tick control. [PDF]
Amblyomma sculptum showed a plasmatocyte‐dominant haemocyte profile. Beauveria bassiana increased plasmatocytes and reduced granulocytes, whereas Metarhizium robertsii did not cause significant changes. Amblyomma americanum showed a granulocyte‐dominant haemocyte profile. Beauveria bassiana reduced total haemocytes and granulocytes. B.

Cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) haemocytes are potential sources of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). To study the immune response to Vibrio splendidus and identify new AMPs, an original approach was developed based on a differential transcriptomic study and

HAEMOCYTE COUNT OF THE CUT WORM, Agrotis ips/Ion LARVAE AND EFFECT OF HORMONES [PDF]
Haemocytes increased gradually from the first instar to late fifth instar larvae of the cut worm, Agrotis ypsilon. The haemocyte number declined during the prepupal stage.

Alternative chemicals to per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances have recently been introduced in various industrial processes. C6O4 (difluoro{[2,2,4,5-tetrafluoro-5-(trifluoromethoxy)-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl]oxy}acetic acid) is a new surfactant and emulsifier ...

Transcriptomic Landscape Reveals Immunity Related Trade-Offs in an Invertebrate-Fungal Host-Parasite System. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Host–parasite interactions represent an evolutionary arms race, with parasites evolving strategies to exploit host resources, and hosts deploying mechanisms to resist or tolerate infection. Unlike vertebrates, which possess a sophisticated immune system, invertebrates rely entirely on innate immunity to combat pathogens.
