Effects of genistein on insect haemocytes [PDF]
Journal of Applied Biomedicine, 2003 We evaluate the possibility of using insects as a haematological biomodel and we test phytoestrogen isoflavanoid, genistein, in Schistocerca gregaria, Periplaneta americana and Dysdercus cingulatus. Various reactions of haemocytes were found in these three species, both stimulation and inhibition of haemocyte concentration.

Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila
Advanced Science, EarlyView.While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.
