Abstract HAFNIUM is a commercially available refractory metal which has outstanding corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, and is readily amenable to standard fabrication techniques. These characteristics, coupled with its high thermal-neutron cross section, high-temperature allotropic transformation, and excellent electrical ...

The phase diagrams hafnium-vanadium and hafnium-chromium
Journal of the Less Common Metals, 1968Abstract The binary systems hafnium-vanadium and hafnium-chromium were determined by means of X-ray, melting point, DTA, and metallographic techniques. In the hafnium-vanadium system, β-Hf dissolves up to 23.5 at.% V (1456 °C), whereas the solid-solubility in α-Hf is less than 2 at.%. Vanadium dissolves up to 4 at.% hafnium.

Oxygen Reduction on Hafnium/Hafnium Carbide Nanoparticles
ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2015Non-precious metal nanoparticles are attractive candidates for oxygen electrocatalytic reduction in electrochemical energy conversion devices, such as fuel cells and batteries. Here we report for the first time electrocatalytic activity of hafnium/hafnium carbide nanoparticles towards the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR).
