Carbon Nanotubes Filled with Gadolinium and Hafnium Carbides
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1995High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HREM) has been used to examine the effect of metals on the ordering of carbon during fullerene generation by the the DC electric arc discharge of metal-composite graphite rods. Investigations of the carbonaceous deposits formed on the top edge of the negative electrode confirmed the existence of ...

11.3: Electron emission from hafnium carbide
International Vacuum Nanoelectronics Conference, 2010HfC was evaluated as a cold field emission source. Single crystal HfC was produced and fabricated into cold field emitters, then angular intensity and reduced brightness were determined from experimental I(V) data. Energy distribution data were in agreement with a theoretical model.

Carbon fiber reinforced hafnium carbide composite
Journal of Materials Science, 2004Hafnium carbide is proposed as a structural material for aerospace applications at ultra high temperatures. The chemical vapor deposition technique was used as a method to produce monolithic hafnium carbide (HfC) and tantalum carbide (TaC). The microstructure of HfC and TaC were studied using analytical techniques. The addition of tantalum carbide (TaC)
