Electrosynthesis of hafnium diboride from cryolite-alumina melts containing hafnium and boron oxides
Russian Journal of Electrochemistry, 2005Electrosynthesis of hafnium diboride from cryolite-alumina melts containing hafnium and boron oxides is studied. Thermodynamic estimation and voltammetric measurements show this process to occur in one-stage. Hafnium diboride coatings on nickel are obtained by electrolysis.

Structure and composition of hafnium diboride films
The structure and composition of hafnium diboride films grown by rf magnetron sputtering have been studied by X-ray diffraction and secondary ion mass spectrometry. The results demonstrate that the key parameters of the process are the bias-dependent energy of incident particles and the substrate temperature.

Preparation of hafnium diboride nanopowders in an anhydrous Na2B4O7 ionic melt
Inorganic Materials, 2015Reactions between hafnium powder and microcrystalline boron in a Na2B4O7 ionic melt have been studied at temperatures from 600 to 850°C. The results demonstrate that nanoparticulate hafnium diboride forms starting at 750°C. According to electron microscopy data, the HfB2 powder obtained at 850°C consists of nearly spherical particles 50–55 nm in ...

Oxidation behaviour of an aluminium nitride–hafnium diboride ceramic composite
Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2005Abstract An aluminium nitride–hafnium diboride electroconductive particulate composite was produced via hot isostatic pressing without sintering aids. Oxidation kinetics studies were performed up to 1350 °C under a flow of pure oxygen using a microbalance. The reaction products were analysed using SEM and XRD techniques.

Oxidation of ultra-high temperature transition metal diboride ceramics
The oxidation behaviour of transition metal diboride ceramics is reviewed with emphasis on the performance of zirconium diboride and hafnium diboride. First, the oxidation behaviour of nominally pure diborides is discussed, focusing on the transition to ...

A new chemresistive NO2 sensing material: Hafnium diboride
Ceramics International, 2022Abstract While metal oxides and metal sulfides have been extensively studied for gas sensing applications, there are no extensive reports on gas sensing properties of metal diborides. Here, for the first time, we have investigated the conductometric gas sensing behavior of HfB2 nanoparticles. The HfB2 nanoparticles is synthesized via a sol-gel method
