Effect of hair color on luster
International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2005The effect of color on instrumentally evaluated luster of hair dyed to different colors and depths of shades is studied. For natural hair colors, such as blond, brown and black, the increase in luster with increasing color is associated with a decrease in diffusely scattered light as a result of light absorption by melanin granules.

In this paper, detailed simulation of human hair bleaching was conducted. The materials and chemical used as well as the hair bleaching procedures were described. Psychological Reports, 1971To investigate stereotypes associated with hair color, 240 Ss completed semantic differential scales. Ss were 79 men and 161 women of differing hair colors. Results indicate that Dark Men clearly preferred Brunette Women, Blonde Men were equally divided in preference for Blondes and Brunettes.
