Light‐Activatable Hyaluronic Acid‐Derivatives Releasing Nitric Oxide and Their Delivery in the Skin

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores the development of photoactivatable hyaluronic acid (HA) derivatives functionalized with nitric oxide (NO) photodonors for light‐controlled therapeutic applications. The HA derivatives demonstrate enhanced keratinocyte proliferation and migration, effective NO release, and skin penetration when formulated as microemulsions.

Hair of astrophysical black holes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
The "no hair" theorem is not applicable to black holes formed from collapse of a rotating neutron star. Rotating neutron stars can self-produce particles via vacuum breakdown forming a highly conducting plasma magnetosphere such that magnetic field lines are effectively "frozen-in" the star both before and during collapse.

Hierarchy of hair loss stigma: media portrayals of cancer, alopecia areata, and ringworm in Israeli newspapers

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Health Policy Research, 2019
Background Over 300,000 people in Israel cope with temporary or permanent hair loss (alopecia) that results from diseases and medical treatments. For women, hair loss can be a highly traumatic event that may lead to adverse psychosocial consequences and ...

Direct Surface Modification of the Epidermis Using Mussel‐Inspired Polydopamine with Multiple Anti‐Biofouling Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Surface modification using mussel‐derived polydopamine (PDA) is a versatile and robust biocompatible strategy that enables direct application to various epidermal surfaces, regardless of their morphological complexity or surface characteristics. The PDA‐coated epidermis exhibits multiple anti‐biofouling functionalities, including antibacterial and anti‐

Uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of hair growth duration in human scalp follicles under normal and alopecic conditions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Hair follicles constantly cycle through phases of growth, regression and rest, as matrix keratinocytes (MKs), the cells producing hair fibers, proliferate, and then undergo spontaneous apoptosis. Damage to MKs and perturbations in their normal dynamics result in a shortened growth phase, leading to hair loss.

Hormonal therapy in female pattern hair loss

open access: yesInternational Journal of Women's Dermatology, 2017
Female pattern hair loss is the most common cause of hair loss in women and one of the most common problems seen by dermatologists. This hair loss is a nonscarring alopecia in which loss occurs on the vertex scalp, generally sparing the frontal hairline.

Multifunctional Neural Probes Enable Bidirectional Electrical, Optical, and Chemical Recording and Stimulation In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Convergence drawing is used to create flexible, microscale, multifunctional fiber‐based neural probes. Optimized materials selection enables individual devices to perform neural recording, electrical stimulation, optogenetics, fiber photometry, fluid delivery, and voltammetric neurotransmitter detection in rodents.
