Fungi associated with sheep hairs in Saudi Arabia.
Czech Mycology, 1997The frequency of occurrence of fungi in 25 hair samples of nine kinds of sheep, collected from different localities in Saudi Arabia, was estimated using three isolation methods at 28°C. Fortyfive species and one variety representing 23 genera were isolated and the most common genera were Chrysosporium, Alternaria, Aspergillus and Penicillium.

Water requirements of African goats and haired-sheep
The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1971SummaryA number of species of desert-dwelling ungulates (e.g. Grant's gazelle and oryx) can apparently survive desert conditions without drinking. We were interested in finding out whether goats and sheep herded in the arid Northern Frontier Region of Kenya utilized the same physiological strategies for reducing water requirements as the wild ungulates.

Chemical Characterization of Melanins in Sheep Wool and Human Hair
Pigment Cell Research, 1996The color of hair and wool in mammals and feathers in birds is mostly determined by the quantity and quality of melanins that are synthesized in follicular melanocytes and transferred to keratinocytes. There are two chemically distinct types of melanin pigments: the black to brown eumelanins and the yellow to reddish pheomelanins.

Mitochondrial analysis sheds light on the origin of hair sheep
Animal Genetics, 2012SummaryA total of 180 mtDNA sequences from hair Caribbean (93), West African (73) and Canarian‐wooled (14) sheep were analysed to shed light on the origin of hair sheep. A comparison of 360 Iberian sheep sequences retrieved from GenBank was performed to assess a possible European origin of the Caribbean hair sheep. These 180 sequences gave 48 different

Massive Africanized honeybee stings in two hair sheep and a mare
Toxicon, 2020The findings of massive Africanized honeybee stings in two hair sheep and a mare are reported. One sheep died 15 h after attack, and the survivors developed skin necrosis on the sting sites. Pathological evaluation revealed necrosis in the dermis, degeneration of the tubular epithelial cells, and multifocal hemorrhages in heart and spleen.

Keratinophilic fungi on sheep hairs from the West Bank of Jordan
Mycopathologia, 1989The mycoflora of the hair in 285 sheep from the West Bank of Jordan was analysed and the frequency of occurrence and the relative importance value for different fungal species found were calculated. Ninety six species which belong to 36 genera were isolated.

Failure Analysis of Comb for Sheep Hair Shearing Device
2019This paper emphasizes the failure analysis of comb of a sheep hair shearing device developed by IIT Delhi. This device is under development to provide a mechanized way to cut woollen fleece of the sheep to minimize the drudgery faced by shearers. After few trails of the device in the field, comb broke.

Selenium toxicosis in a flock of Katahdin hair sheep.
The Canadian veterinary journal = La revue veterinaire canadienne, 1999Selenium supplementation by injection is a common practice. Acute toxicosis from dosaging errors may occur. In this report, 23 of 56 ewes and all 24 lambs injected with selenium died. Tissue, whole blood, and serum concentrations aided in the diagnosis. Caution should be taken when supplementing selenium by injection.
