Establishment of hairy root cultures of Ammi majus
Plant Science, 2001Axenically grown Ammi majus plantlets were inoculated with seven different Agrobacterium rhizogenes strains. Hairy root lines were established only after inoculation with the two agropine strains: A4 and LBA9402. The growth rate of hairy root cultures was about thirty times faster than that of callus and cell suspension cultures.

Modeling and Simulation of Hairy Root Growth
2008A multiscale approach is presented to model growth of hairy roots. On the macroscopic scale, a continuous model is derived, which includes growth and nutrient transport. Water transport is considered on the microscopic scale. A Discontinuous Galerkin scheme for complex geometries is used to compute the permeability of root bulks.
