A New Approach to Shimming Halbach Arrays Using Higher Order Halbach Array Inserts
ISMRM Annual Meeting, 2023Halbach arrays are an appealing magnet design for low field MRI due to their low weight and cost typically suffer from relatively high B0 inhomogeneity. In this work we show a new approach to shimming Halbach arrays using higher order Halbach inserts which can be designed to target specific spherical harmonic terms.

A Halbach array magnetic spring

Also, the paper outlines the design of a magnetic spring with a single degree of instability that is suitable for bearing large loads.

Testing of an in-wheel Halbach array motor
2020 International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2020This paper presents the testing of an in-wheel permanent magnet Halbach array machine developed for automotive traction. A machine with a Halbach array rotor is experimentally compared to results from a surface mount variant with the same magnet mass and the finite element analysis (FEA) simulations done during its design.
