A New Approach to Shimming Halbach Arrays Using Higher Order Halbach Array Inserts

ISMRM Annual Meeting, 2023
Halbach arrays are an appealing magnet design for low field MRI due to their low weight and cost typically suffer from relatively high B0 inhomogeneity. In this work we show a new approach to shimming Halbach arrays using higher order Halbach inserts which can be designed to target specific spherical harmonic terms.

A Halbach array magnetic spring

INTERMAG Asia 2005. Digests of the IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 2005., 2005
This paper summarises a research on a large load bearing magnetic spring concept, which has application to the development of a non-contact vibration isolation table. Also, the paper outlines the design of a magnetic spring with a single degree of instability that is suitable for bearing large loads.

Halbach array design targeting nuclear magnetic resonance

2016 5th International Conference on Electronic Devices, Systems and Applications (ICEDSA), 2016
Halbach array is extensively used in process control industry targeting NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) technology as it has several advantages compared to non Halbach array methods; such as uniform magnetic field, light weight, low cost, and concentrated magnetic field.

Halbach Square Array Structure for Optimizing Magnetic Adsorption

Journal of Nanoelectronics and Optoelectronics, 2021
To realize reliable adsorption and flexible walking on ships by a multitrack integrated mobile wall-climbing robot, a magnetic adsorption wall-climbing robot is proposed. First, key technologies such as adsorption based on Halbach square arrays are studied.

Performance of Halbach magnet arrays with finite coercivity

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2016
Abstract A numerical method to study the effect of finite coercivity on the Halbach cylinder geometry is presented. Despite the fact that the analytical solution available for this geometry does not set any limit to the maximum air gap flux density achievable, in real life the non-linear response of the magnetic material and the fact that the ...

Testing of an in-wheel Halbach array motor

2020 International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2020
This paper presents the testing of an in-wheel permanent magnet Halbach array machine developed for automotive traction. A machine with a Halbach array rotor is experimentally compared to results from a surface mount variant with the same magnet mass and the finite element analysis (FEA) simulations done during its design.

Optimization of the Superconducting Halbach Array

2020
This Chapter presents the further optimization of the coil locations and the number of coils, to obtain a better homogeneity of the magnetic field in the centre area of the superconducting Halbach Array, on the premise of maintaining the total amount of superconducting material used.

CHAPTER 5. Hardware Developments: Halbach Magnet Arrays

2015
Halbach magnet arrays are very attractive for mobile NMR, because they generate very homogeneous and strong magnetic fields per magnet mass and have negligible stray fields. First of all, they are introduced as idealized geometries. Then the problems arising from the practical necessity to truncated and discretize the ideal Halbach is discussed in ...

Halbach Array for an in- Wheel Traction Motor

2018 XIII International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2018
This paper compares a Halbach array to a more conventional surface mounted permanent magnet arrangement for an in wheel traction motor. Demagnetisation, physical air-gap and torque capability at continuous and overload operation is considered. Without increasing the machine operating space, using one transition per pole was found to increase rated ...
