Oscillatory properties of second order half-linear difference equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
summary:We study oscillatory properties of the second order half-linear difference equation \[ \Delta (r_k|\Delta y_k|^{\alpha -2}\Delta y_k)-p_k|y_{k+1}|^{\alpha -2}y_{k+1}=0, \quad \alpha >1. \qquad \mathrm{(HL)}\] It will be shown that the basic facts

Oscillation of half-linear differential equations with mixed type of argument

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2022
This paper is devoted to the study of the oscillatory behavior of half-linear functional differential equations with deviating argument of the form \begin{equation*}\label{Eabs} \left(r(t)(y'(t))^{\alpha}\right)'=p(t)y^{\alpha}(\tau(t)). \tag{$E$} \end{

Half-linear equations and characteristic properties of the principal solution

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 2005
The authors study the characteristic properties of the principal solution for the half-linear differential equation \[ (a(t)\Phi(x'))'+b(t)\Phi(x)=0. \] Using the reciprocity principle, it is shown that the solutions of the considered equation have properties similar to those of linear equations.

Oscillation criteria for perturbed half-linear differential equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations
Oscillatory properties of perturbed half-linear differential equations are investigated. We make use of the modified Riccati technique. A certain linear differential equation associated with the modified Riccati equation plays an important part. Improved

Heterogeneity in the Global Practice of Central Nervous System Staging in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is assessed by cell counting and cytomorphology from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and is used for treatment stratification worldwide. The ratio of “CNS2” patients in clinical trials ranges from 3% to 40%, with unclear prognostic significance ...

Summation inequalities and half-linear difference equations

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2005
The aim of this paper is to present new summation inequalities and to shaw that the half-linear difference equation ... exhibits not only similarities but also some discrepancies with the linear case, especially as regards the possible coexistence of the so-called extremal solutions. Some of our results are new also for the linear difference equation.

Oscillation and non-oscillation of half-linear differential equations with coeffcients determined by functions having mean values

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2018
The paper belongs to the qualitative theory of half-linear equations which are located between linear and non-linear equations and, at the same time, between ordinary and partial differential equations.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
