A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Evaluation of radiation shielding properties of the polyvinyl alcohol/iron oxide polymer composite

open access: yesJournal of Medical Physics, 2017
Context: Lead is the conventional shielding material against gamma/X-rays. It has some limitations such as toxic, high density, nonflexibility, and also bremsstrahlung production during electron interaction.

Evaluasi Metode Penentuan Half Value Layer (Hvl) Menggunakan Multi Purpose Detector (Mpd) Barracuda pada Pesawat Sinar-x Mobile [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The dose received by the patient and the radiographic image quality is determined by the value of the half value layer (HVL). Multi Purpose Detector (MPD) Barracuda, produced by RTI Electronics, Sweden, is a solid state detector that can be used to ...

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Accuracy of measuring half‐ and quarter‐value layers and appropriate aperture width of a convenient method using a lead‐covered case in X‐ray computed tomography

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, 2014
Determination of the half‐value layer (HVL) and quarter‐value layer (QVL) values is not an easy task in X‐ray computed tomography (CT), because a nonrotating X‐ray tube must be used, which requires the assistance of service engineers.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Experimental Investigation of Clay Fly Ash Bricks for Gamma-Ray Shielding

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2016
This study aims to determine the effect of fly ash with a high replacing ratio of clay on the radiation shielding properties of bricks. Some interaction parameters (mass attenuation coefficients, half value layer, effective atomic number, effective ...
