D47, DMSP catabolism is revealed to be coordinated by two transcriptional regulators, AcuR and AcuZ, which control gene expression by sensing DMSP and its metabolites.

Strain EAR18T was isolated as an endophyte from the roots of a halophyte plant, Arthrocnemum macrostachyum, growing in the Odiel marshes (Huelva, Spain). Cells of strain EAR18T were Gram- stain-negative, motile, non-spore-forming aerobic rods. It grew optimally on tryptic soy agar supplemented with 2.5 % NaCl (w/v), at pH 7 and 30 °C for 48 h.

Abstract It is shown for the first time that haloalkaliphilic bacteria, isolated from soda-lake environments were capable of reducing Tc(VII)O(4) (-) to the Tc(V), Tc(IV) and Tc(III) at pH 10 in carbonate medium, whereas no reduction took place without bacteria or in the presence of dead biomass.
