Halophilic microbial eukaryotes are present in many eukaryotic lineages and major groups; however, our knowledge of their diversity is still limited. Furthermore, almost nothing is known about the intracellular accumulation of salts in most halophilic ...

5-Thiohistidine N-Acetyltransferase from Proteiniphilum Saccharofermentans. [PDF]
Proteiniphilum saccharofermentans, a Gram‐negative facultative anaerobe, produces an N‐acetyl transferase (5THNAT) that acetylates 5‐thiohistidine using acetyl‐CoA. This reaction competes with OvoC‐mediated Nπ‐methylation of the same substrate.

Halophilic Nuclease from a Moderately Halophilic Micrococcus varians [PDF]
The moderately halophilic bacterium Micrococcus varians , isolated from soy sauce mash, produced extracellular nuclease when cultivated aerobically in media containing 1 to 4 M NaCl or KCl. The enzyme, purified to an electrophoretically homogeneous state, had both ribonuclease and deoxyribonuclease activities.

A Preliminary Metabarcoding Study of Prokaryotes in Gökçeada Salt Lake Lagoon, Turkey
Objective: Microorganisms play an important role in all ecosystem processes and a growing body of molecular and ecological evidence has shown that microbial biodiversity is much more diverse and complex than previously anticipated.

Differential interactions of halophilic and non-halophilic proteases with nanoparticles [PDF]
Increase in the industrial use of nanomaterials and nanoparticles (NPs) make their release into the environment inevitable. This may lead to environmental contamination and exposure of the biological/ microbial diversity. Nanoparticles have been reported to impregnate the cells and interact with cellular biomolecules especially proteins and DNA ...
