The halophilic properties of pyruvate kinase fromVibrio costicola, a moderate halophile

Experientia, 1979
Pyruvate kinase from Vibrio costicola, a moderate halophile, appears to be adapted to functioning in the presence of salt. Its stability depends on the ionic strength of the medium. The amino acid composition resembles that of other halophilic enzymes.

Uranium association with halophilic and non-halophilic bacteria and archaea

Radiochimica Acta, 2004
Summary We determined the association of uranium with bacteria isolated from the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), Carlsbad, New Mexico, and compared this with known strains of halophilic and non-halophilic bacteria and archaea.

The Function of the Halophilic Dodecin

2006
Flavins are physiologically relevant cofactors that catalyze various redox and light-induced reactions. Due to a high intrinsic reactivity, these compounds are found tightly bound to proteins with the chemistry of the flavin either narrowed to a defined reaction channel (flavoenzymes) or reduced to (almost) non-reactivity (flavin binding and carrier ...
