A relativistic theory of the field II: Hamilton's principle and Bianchi's identities
As gravitation and electromagnetism are closely analogous long-range interactions, and the current formulation of gravitation is given in terms of geometry.

On the Origins of Hamilton’s Principle(s)
This entry first provides an overview of the historical, cultural and epistemological background that is key for Hamilton’s positions on mechanics. We consider the investigations on geometrical optics in the 17th and 18th centuries, Euler’s and Lagrange ...

Passivity Analysis of Nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli Beams [PDF]
The Lagrangian equations for distributed-parameter systems based on Hamilton's principle are developed. These equations are subsequently used to derive nonlinear models for beams. The passivity properties of the flexible mechanical systems based on their

Non-local effect of eccentrically simply supported beam on free vibration
Based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the coupling effect between bending vibration mode shape and longitudinal vibration mode shape of the beam is analyzed when the beam is supported by eccentric simply supported.

Dynamic Post-Buckling Behavior
Geometric non-linear theory has been used to describe the post-buckling behavior of slender web. Hamilton’s principle in increments has been used. Examples of dynamic post-bucking behavior of slender web loaded in compression are presented.

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Cooperation and Hamilton's rule in a simple synthetic microbial system
A fundamental problem in biology is understanding the evolutionary emergence and maintenance of altruistic behaviors. A well‐recognized conceptual insight is provided by a general mathematical relation, Hamilton's rule.

Hamilton’s principle for quasigeostrophic motion
We show that the equation of quasigeostrophic (QG) potential vorticity conservation in geophysical fluid dynamics follows from Hamilton’s principle for stationary variations of an action for geodesic motion in the f-plane case or its prolongation in the β-plane case.
