Delta Opioid Receptors within the Cortico‐Thalamic Circuitry Underlie Hyperactivity Induced by High‐Dose Morphine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Morphine activates the excitatory cingulate cortex–intermediate rostrocaudal division of zona incerta (Cg‐ZIm) pathway to drive hyperlocomotion in mice. Inhibiting the Cg‐ZIm pathway attenuates both acute and chronic morphine‐induced hyperlocomotion, while its activation mimics morphine's motor effects.

Psychiatric disorders among females with prolonged infertility with or without in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection failure: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery
Objectives The present study seeks to deepen understanding of the negative impacts of infertility, with a spotlight on the experiences of Egyptian women who faced prolonged periods of infertility, and emphasizing the role that faliures of in vitro ...

Temporal variability and site specificity of thermomechanical weathering in a temperate climate

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Thermomechanical processes caused by short- and long-term temperature fluctuations are a prevalent weathering mechanism on exposed rock walls. While many authors have explored the potential for thermomechanical weathering in alpine and polar regions, few

Pre‐Encoded IFN‐I Sensitivity Exacerbates Memory T Cell Senescence in Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Type I interferon (IFN‐I) signaling promotes p21‐dependent cell cycle arrest in senescent tumor‐specific memory T cells, resulting in poor proliferative responses and solid tumor regression during cancer vaccination. Conversely, IFNα/β receptor blockade reinvigorates T cell proliferation to regress solid tumors and is more effective with increasing ...

Walking to work in Canada: health benefits, socio-economic characteristics and urban-regional variations

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2011
Background There is mounting concern over increasing rates of physical inactivity and overweight/obesity among children and adult in Canada. There is a clear link between the amount of walking a person does and his or her health.

Loose Hamilton cycles in hypergraphs

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 2011
We prove that any k-uniform hypergraph on n vertices with minimum degree at least n/(2(k-1))+o(n) contains a loose Hamilton cycle. The proof strategy is similar to that used by K hn and Osthus for the 3-uniform case. Though some additional difficulties arise in the k-uniform case, our argument here is considerably simplified by applying the recent ...

Mechanical Environment Afforded by Engineered Hydrogel Critically Regulates Survival of Neural Stem Cells Transplanted in the Injured Spinal Cord via Piezo1‐Mediated Mechanotransduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neural stem cell transplantation shows promise for spinal cord repair, but poor graft survival limits therapeutic efficacy. This study demonstrates that increasing hydrogel stiffness from 10% to 16% concentration significantly enhances transplanted neural stem cell survival through Piezo1‐mediated mechanotransduction, revealing mechanical properties as
