Impact hammer testing of a railway track

2017
Non-destructive dynamic testing such as excitation techniques that use an instrumented hammer and mounted accelerometers has been previously employed for evaluation of structural condition of the track. This paper shows in-situ application of impact hammer testing on an inactive railway line.

Investigation on Impact Hammer Testing with Different Types of Hammer Tip for Welded Thin Plate

Advanced Science Letters, 2017
Modal testing using impact hammer had been used extensively in various industries to analyze the dynamic properties of the structure. Impact testing become famous due to their advantages for instances; fast, compatible for measurements in the field and relatively inexpensive.

Development of an AI-aided hammering test system

2021
Many inspections of concrete structures are conducted using non-destructive testing, such as measuring equipment in addition to visual and tapping inspection. In general, the hammering test, widely used in practice, is based mostly on the experience and judgment of the inspector.

Advancing the Rebound Hammer Method: A New Concrete Test Hammer

2011
The concrete test hammer patented by Proceq’s Ernst O. Schmidt at the beginning of the 1950’s is without a doubt the most widely used NDT instrument worldwide for rapid assessment of the condition of a concrete structure. Despite this fact, the validity of the method remains a hotly debated topic amongst experts in the NDT field. This is largely due to

Testing of riveting hammers (formation of the bench technique)

Vestnik Mashinostroeniya, 2021
An overview of the principal schemes and designs of testing tools for handheld impact machines, such as riveting hammers, is given. The formation of a bench test method for riveting hammers is considered, which most objectively reproduces the real work of a manual machine when processing an object with a riveting hammer, including with the help of ...

Rock abrasivity test with a modified schmidt hammer

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1982
Ideally, an abrasivity test should be physically similar to the real cutting process of a drag bit or roller cutter and should generate a force of a few tonnes. The note describes how an m-type Schmidt hammer was modified and used as a portable in-situ tester.

Drop hammer tests of Scandinavian harness racetracks

Equine Veterinary Journal, 1994
Summary Drop tests were carried out on 8 Scandinavian harness racetracks in order to evaluate their shock force attenuation properties. A drop hammer model was designed to simulate the hoof strike of the horse.
