Identifying Physical Interactions in Contact‐Based Robot Manipulation for Learning from Demonstration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robots can learn manipulation tasks from human demonstrations. This work proposes a versatile method to identify the physical interactions that occur in a demonstration, such as sequences of different contacts and interactions with mechanical constraints.

Parametric Analysis of Structural Noise of Steel-Concrete Composite Slab Beams

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2022
In this study, the vibration acceleration and radiation structure noise in specific points, 30 cm away from the center surface of each plate of the concrete deck, web, and flange of the steel beam, are measured via the hammering test.

Durability of Soft Pneumatic Actuators: A Review and Benchmarking Protocol

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Lack of durability is a key challenge hindering the broad scale adoption of soft pneumatic actuators (SPAs) in automation industries. This review provides a comprehensive overview of existing research on SPA durability, introduces a standardized durability benchmarking protocol to consolidate the testing of SPAs, and outlines promising directions for ...

Flame‐Retardant Quasi‐Solid‐State Electrolytes From Self‐Assembled Azolate Hybrid Frameworks for Highly Safe Lithium Batteries

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This work develops a spray‐assisted in situ assembly technique to construct AHF materials with nitrogen/oxygen‐regulated one‐dimensional channels on glass fiber, providing abundant active sites and enabling rapid transport for lithium ions. Subsequently, phosphate flame retardants are encapsulated via in situ polymerization, resulting in a thermally ...

Limitation of estimation method of surface texture parameters by inverse analysis of hammering test data with disturbance

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2019
The surface texture formed by the micro asperities on the surface of the solid members induces the stiffness reduction of the structure constructed by screws and bolts.

FiN‐Kiri: Fabric‐Based Inflatable Kirigami Actuator for Multimodal Soft Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study introduces a type of inflatable fabric‐based kirigami actuator capable of performing bending motion. The actuator is utilized as soft grippers, a crawling robot and a swimming robot. The crawling robot demonstrated extraordinary motion capabilities, such as moving forward, turning and navigating a narrow tunnel.

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.

Water hammer dissipation in pneumatic slug tests [PDF]

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2007
We model and measure the dissipation of water hammer induced by well casing and water elasticity with rapid valve opening at the start of a pneumatic slug test. The higher‐frequency water hammer can obscure slower, aquifer‐controlled, underdamped oscillations of the rigid water column, so a quantitative description of the elastic motion improves the ...

Isosteric Substitution Enables Rational Design of Two‐Dimensional Energetic Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Isosteric substitution transforms a classical nitro–amine motif into two‐dimensional aminofurazans with performance beyond TATB. ABSTRACT Two‐dimensional (2D) energetic crystals dissipate mechanical insult via interlayer slip, yet their molecular design space remains narrow.
