Mathematical model of the zebrafish ventricular cardiomyocyte action potential and calcium transient

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend This study presents the development and validation of the first biophysically detailed computational model of the zebrafish ventricular action potential (AP). The model is based on a human cardiomyocyte framework and reparameterized using published and newly generated patch‐clamp recordings of zebrafish ionic currents.

Can we study whisker movements to gain insights into the natural sensory behaviours of mammals?

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The recommended future of whisker science research is integrating findings from the laboratory with studies from other captive institutions (such as zoos, rehabilitation centres and specialist research institutes) and field observations.

Host Cell Protein Clinical Safety Risk Assessment—An Updated Industry Review

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 122, Issue 11, Page 3229-3248, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Host cell proteins (HCP) are process‐related impurities that can co‐purify with therapeutic proteins. Some HCP impurities potentially can have an impact on patient safety (immunogenicity or toxicity), efficacy, and/or product quality. It is important to reduce the levels of HCP impurities with a well‐controlled manufacturing process and to ...

AutoML‐Driven Soft Sensors for Real‐Time Monitoring of Amino Acids in Mammalian Perfusion Cultures

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 122, Issue 11, Page 3123-3138, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Mammalian perfusion culture offers high productivity for complex biologics but presents operational challenges in maintaining process stability. Real‐time monitoring is essential to address such challenges while traditional analytical methods often fall short due to several limitations such as detection sensitivity and spectral overlap ...
