Potent antihypertensive effect of Hancornia speciosa leaves extract

open access: yesPhytomedicine, 2016
Hancornia speciosa Gomes is an herb traditionally used in Brazil for blood pressure control. The present work investigated the antihypertensive effect of an extract from Hancornia speciosa leaves (SFH) and analyzed its underlying mechanisms of action.Hypertension was induced in mice by surgical removal of a kidney and by subcutaneous administration of a

Development of microsatellite markers for Hancornia speciosa Gomes (Apocynaceae)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2015
Herein, we describe 34 microsatellite loci developed using an enrichment genomic library for the tree species Hancornia speciosa Gomes (Apocynaceae). Thirty-five individuals were genotyped using 34 primers to analyze the polymorphisms at each locus. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 4 to 20.

Physical and physiological quality of mangaba seeds obtained by different processing methods [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental, 2021
HIGHLIGHTS The seeds obtained from the fruit pulp industry have a physiological quality for seedling propagation. There is a high potential for reducing fruit pulp industry residues by using these seeds for propagation.

Hancornia speciosa Moulton 1933

open access: yes, 2012
speciosa Moulton, 1933 This species is included in the key here based on the statement by Nakahara (1997: 359) that speciosa shares with antennata Hood from Peru the absence of ocellar setae pair I, whereas this pair of setae is present in all other members of the genus. Unfortunately, speciosa is known only from one damaged female, collected in Brazil

Do arthropods affect the production of fruits on Hancornia speciosa (Gomes) (Apocynaceae) trees? [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
Hancornia speciosa (Apocynaceae) trees are valuable for several communities that survive from collecting their fruits. However, H. speciosa is threatened due to the increasing deforestation in the Brazilian Cerrado.

Genetic structure simulation for Hancornia speciosa populations in Northeast Brazil

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2023
ABSTRACT: Mangaba tree is a fruit tree species whose natural populations are fragmented by anthropic actions. For this reason, studies assessing the impact of fragmentation on the diversity and genetic structure of these populations are required in order to establish suitable conservation strategies.

SLOW GROWTH IN VITRO CULTURE FOR CONSERVATION OF HANCORNIA SPECIOSA GOMES

open access: yesFLORESTA, 2022
Hancornia speciosa Gomes is a fruit species endemic to the Cerrado and coastal plains of Northeast of Brazil, with great economic, nutritional, ecological, and medicinal potential. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of sorbitol and sucrose as osmotic regulators on the in vitro growth of mangabeira, aiming at conservation by slow growth.

Medicinal Plants from Brazilian Cerrado: Antioxidant and Anticancer Potential and Protection against Chemotherapy Toxicity

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
The use of natural antioxidants in cancer therapy has increased: first, due to the potential of natural antioxidants to kill tumour cells and second, because of their capacity to protect healthy cells from the damage caused by chemotherapy. This review article discusses the antioxidant properties of extracts obtained from medicinal plants from the ...

Characterization of nutrient deficiency in Hancornia speciosa Gomes seedlings by omitting micronutrients from the nutrient solution

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Fruticultura, 2013
Hancornia speciosa Gomes (Mangaba tree) is a fruit tree belonging to the Apocynaceae family and is native to Brazil. The production of seedlings of this species is limited by a lack of technical and nutritional expertise. To address this deficiency, this
