The development of an endoprosthesis for the metacarpophalangeal joint [PDF]
Rheumatoid arthritis is a painful and debilitating disease which often afflicts the key joint of the hand, the metacarpophalangeal joint. In the worst cases the diseased joint has to be replaced with an artificial joint or prosthesis.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

An alternative treatment for type B Ulnar Polydactyly
Includes summary.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 47-50).Rudimentary ulnar polydactyly is one of the most common congenital hand anomalies. These are conventionally treated by suture ligation in the neonatal period or by formal excision, when ...

Validation of a simple method for measuring cranial deformities (Plagiocephalometry)
Craniofacial measuring is essential for diagnosis or evaluation of growth and therapies. Skull deformities in children are mainly caused by craniosynostosis or by external pressure in positional skull deformations.

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

The Frequency and Diagnostic accuracy of Hand Deformities in Parkinson\u27s Disease
Hand deformities are well-known abnormalities observed in patients with Parkinson\u27s disease (PD). We determined the frequency and diagnostic accuracy of hand deformities in PD.

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
