Electrochemical Detection of Nitrite Based on Iron Oxide–Reduced Graphene Oxide Nanocomposite Modified Electrode in Real Water

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
A sensitive, low‐cost electrochemical sensor based on iron oxide–reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite is developed for nitrite detection in water. The sensor demonstrated excellent performance with an ultra‐low detection limit of 17.3 pM and high recovery in real samples.

Alcohol and disinfection of hands

open access: yesJournal of obstetrics and women's diseases, 1898
Since recent studies of the significance of alcohol as a disinfectant have not yet led to definitive conclusions, the author has undertaken a new series of studies at the Gisen Clinic and Bacteriological Institute to highlight the role of alcohol in hand sterilization.

The effect of blood on disinfection of surgeons' hands

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1974
Abstract The effect on skin flora of spreading 2 ml of blood over the hands after a 2-minute disinfectant handwash and then wearing rubber gloves for an hour was assessed by a trial in which 6 volunteers used each of six preparations, once with blood and once, as a control experiment, with water on their hands.

SMYD3 Promotes Immune Evasion in Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma via SREBP1‐Mediated Transactivation of CD47

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer cell‐intrinsic SMYD3 orchestrates an immunosuppressive microenvironment and impairs the response to PD‐1 blockade by reprogramming immune cells landscape in the tumor microenvironment of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). The immunomodulatory function of SMYD3 is mediated via the SREBP1/CD47 pathway.

Assessment of Microbial Quality and Antibacterial Activity of Commonly used Hand Washes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Hands are the highways to the transmission and spread of pathogens that causes diseases, food borne illnesses and nosocomial infections. Hand washing is the act of cleansing the hands with water or another liquid, with or without the use of soap or ...

Loss of NR2F6 Protects from Salmonella Typhimurium Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Loss of nuclear receptor NR2F6 reduces tissue‐resident macrophage populations. Nr2f6‐deficient mice are protected from weight loss and bacterial load during infection with Salmonella Typhimurium. Pro‐inflammatory cytokines and iron levels are altered in infected Nr2f6‐deficient mice.

NAD+‐Boosters Improve Mitochondria Quality Control In Parkinson's Disease Models Via Mitochondrial UPR

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Treatment of MPTP‐incubated cells with NAD+‐boosters increase the UPRmt/mitophagy‐related mitochondria quality control (MQC). Disturbed plasma UPRmt‐mitophagy‐mediated MQC profiles in PD patient samples. NMN inhibits motor deficit and forestalls neuropathology phenotypes of PD mice, which is required the atf4‐medicated UPRmt pathway.
