The Effect of Different Pollination Methods on Seed Yield and Germination Features in Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni

open access: yesTürkiye Tarımsal Araştırmalar Dergisi, 2015
Pollination is a prerequisite system for reproductive of many plants and it is more important in self-compatible plants. Since, these plants need other flowers pollen for flower fertilization and seed production.

Biomass and mineral nutrient partitioning among self-pollinated and cross-pollinated fruit on the same strawberry plant

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
Pollen-parent effects on fruit size and quality have been found previously among competing self-pollinated and cross-pollinated fruit on the same Redlands Joy strawberry plant.

Effect of Pollination Method on Changes in Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Date Fruit During Development

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Marine Sciences, 2002
Date palms were pollinated by hand, hand duster and motorized duster. Pollen for the hand and motorized dusters was diluted with wheat flour each at 1:5, 1:7, 1:9 and 1:14 ratios. Fruit samples were collected during ‘Hababook’, ‘Kimri’, ‘Bisir’, ‘Rutab’,

Three options are better than two: compensatory nature of different pollination modes in Salix caprea L.

open access: yesJournal of Pollination Ecology, 2021
Mixed pollination systems have been reported for many angiosperms. Here, we report on a dioecious willow, Salix caprea L., which employs three pollination modes, namely pollination by wind, nocturnal moths, and diurnal bees.

A Mechanistic Study of Bio‐Based Nanotemplated Carbon Nanofibers Derived From Water Processable Lignin Blends for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
As‐spun carbon materials produced from Lignosulfonate, gelatin, and alginate, selected for water solubility, and ability to produce templated sustainable carbon nanostructures. Gelatin and alginate are sacrificial during thermal processing, allowing the production of engineered high surface area nanostructures, which are further characterized for ...

A Pollen‐Enhanced Bionic Mechanoreceptor Induced by Asymmetric Ionic Convection in Hydrogel for Sensory‐Augmented Prostheses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work proposed a pollen‐enhanced bionic mechanoreceptor based on ionic convection. Leveraging the ion anchoring effect of the pollen particle, the output performance could be ∼12 times higher than the original state. By employing deep learning models as AI brains, the feasibility of a sensory‐augmented prosthesis consisting of a pollen‐enhanced ...

The BnTFL1‐BnJAM3‐BnSWEETs Module Orchestrates Seed Storage Reserve Accumulation in Brassica napus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 form a complex that facilitates the transport of soluble sugars from the seed coat to the embryo by directly activating the expression of BnSWEETs. Furthermore, BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 work cooperatively to promote soluble sugar and oil production while suppressing protein deposition.

Is the pollination efficiency of long-lived orchid flowers affected by age?

open access: yesRevista Ceres, 2015
The long-lived flowers of orchids increase the chances of pollination and thus the reproductive success of the species. However, a question arises: does the efficiency of pollination, expressed by fruit set, vary with the flower age?

Asymbiotic seed germination of Phalenopsis Blume orchids after hand pollination

open access: yesActa agriculturae Slovenica, 2012
Seven commercial hybrids of Phalaenopsis were included in an asymbiotic germination experiment. Plants differed in size and color of flowers and number of inflorescences and flowers. A total of 109 flowers were included of which 60 or 55% were cross-pollinated and reciprocally pollinated. Seed capsules developed on 46 (76.7%) fertilized flowers.
