A novel material handling system

Proceedings of IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
In this paper, a novel material handling system is presented. An overview of the hardware is provided, and issues related to control of the arms are discussed. It is believed that when it is completed, use of this material handling system will help reduce or eliminate workplace back injuries due to repetitive lifting.

A System of Drug Handling in Hospital

British Journal of Psychiatry, 1973
To rely on a system of drug administration based on a transcribed drug list is to court disaster. The high incidence of errors of transcription has been documented by Crooks (1964) (1), Wallace (1965) (2), Watt et al. (in press) (3).

A Generic Control Architecture for Material Handling Systems Applied to a Baggage Handling System

Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics, 2013
This paper is part of research on generic planning and control of automated Material Handling Systems (MHSs) in different industrial sectors. We build upon previous work to provide a proof of concept for the applicability of a generic control architecture on a specific MHS.

Handling Preferences in P2P Systems

2012
A peer to peer system easily provides a way to aggregate information distributed in the network. Anyhow, while collecting data it is quite natural for a source peer to associate different degrees of reliability to the portion of data provided by its neighbor peers.

Designing Case Handling Systems

2008
A case handling system is an information system supporting the handling of cases. The (sub) tasks for a particular case are performed by persons or software agents and the result of a task is the updating of the case data. Case handling systems consist of three parts: (1) a workflow engine that executes the process of a case, (2) a document manager ...

Silkworm Handling Robot System

Proceedings of the 2005 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2006
This paper describes the development and experimental results obtained using a silkworm handling robot. This study was performed to establish a system for the handling of silkworms, and to make use of automated breeding to produce usable materials. Silkworms are soft and amorphous.

Modelling Message Handling System

2003
This paper introduces a new approach to designing a Message Handling Assistant (MA). It provides a generic model of an MA and an intention extraction function for text messages using speech act theory and the belief-desire-intention (BDI) model of rational agency.

Expert systems and document handling

Information Processing & Management, 1987
Abstract The notion of an “expert system” is briefly reviewed so as to discuss its significance and to raise a number of issues relevant to document handling. The paper is tutorial in nature and does not attempt to present any new research results, although some of the points might be new ones in this particular application context.
