The simulation of material handling systems
SIMULATION, 1990This article describes the simulation of material handling (MH) systems using simulation languages and simulators. We first show how to construct a simulation of a MH system using the standard blocks available in two general purpose simulation languages.

System Handling of Functional Operators
Journal of the ACM, 1961Systems for handling free operators in order to bridge the wide gap exlstlng between the way scientists state problems or mathematical models and the program to which these problems or models must be reduced to be accepted by the compilers or computers of current use are discussed. A system which makes use of charts and symbols for the expansion of the

Event Handling in the Lego System
Software: Practice and Experience, 1997An event is an action that alters a program's normal flow of execution. Events can be classified into asynchronous (such as the expiration of a timer or a request to terminate a process) and synchronous (for example, arithmetic and protection faults).

Baggage Handling: Airline Baggage Handling Systems
Journal of the Aero-Space Transport Division, 1963Airline baggage systems in the last 20 yr have progressed from simple conveyors to sophisticated electronically controlled storage and sorting devices. Installed costs for large volume systems range from $75,000 for manual types to $800,000 for automatic types. Unit costs per passenger vary from 75 cents to 90 cents.

Abstract An appreciation of sheep behaviour is central to any discussion of handling systems for sheep. After first defining the various purposes of sheep handling facilities and how they can be assessed, this review focuses on the factors which can affect the performance of handling systems, including the behavioural characteristics of sheep and the

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 1999
Abstract A new idea of a particle handling system is proposed in this paper consisting of a network of channels and a matrix of mechanical gates for fluids. The device consists of a silicon chip encapsulated by two glass chips. A free standing silicone membrane with a thickness of only two microns is used to reduce the cross sections of ...
