Statistical comparison of classifiers for script identification from multi-script handwritten documents

International Journal of Applied Pattern Recognition, 2014
Script identification for handwritten document image is an open document analysis problem especially for multilingual optical character recognition (OCR) system. To design the OCR system for multi-script document pages, it is essential to recognise different scripts before running a particular OCR system of a script.

Handwritten Gujarati Script Recognition

2021 7th International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communication Systems (ICACCS), 2021
Their are numerous languages in this world and they are spoken and written every day. In modern times everyone has recognized the need for the recognition of handwritten scripts by machines for various purposes. Handwriting recognition has been one of the most demanding and interesting research areas in the field of image processing and machine ...

Segmentation and reconstruction of on-line handwritten scripts

Pattern Recognition, 1998
Abstract On-line handwritten scripts consist of sequences of components that are pen tip traces from pen-down to pen-up positions. This paper presents a segmentation and reconstruction procedure which segments components of a script into sequences of static strokes, and then reconstructs the script from these sequences.

Word-level script identification for handwritten Indic scripts

2015 13th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR), 2015
Automatic script identification from handwritten document images facilitates many important applications such as indexing, sorting and triage. A given Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system is typically trained on only a single script but for documents or collections containing different scripts, there must be some way to automatically identify the

Automatic Handwritten Indian Scripts Identification

2014 14th International Conference on Frontiers in Handwriting Recognition, 2014
Since OCR engines are usually script-dependent, automatic text recognition in multi-script document requires a pre-processor module that identifies the scripts. Based on this motivation, in this paper, we present a word level handwritten Indian script identification technique.

Script identification of handwritten word images

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
This paper describes a system for script identification of handwritten word images. The system is divided into two main phases, training and testing. The training phase performs a moment based feature extraction on the training word images and generates their corresponding feature vectors.

Segmentation of handwritten Bangla script

2013 International Conference on Informatics, Electronics and Vision (ICIEV), 2013
Segmentation of handwritten Bangla script is one of the most critical areas of the Optical Character Recognition System. Paying attention on the various writing style of different individuals we propose an efficient scheme to segment unconstrained handwritten Bangla script into lines, words and characters.

Skew detection in handwritten scripts

TENCON '97 Brisbane - Australia. Proceedings of IEEE TENCON '97. IEEE Region 10 Annual Conference. Speech and Image Technologies for Computing and Telecommunications (Cat. No.97CH36162), 2002
Skew detection is an important pre-processing task in an automated document image processing system. This paper reports on work done in skew detection of handwritten scripts. It has been developed as part of an off-line OCR system. We investigate existing techniques such as the Hough transform, projection histograms, method of least squares and word ...
