Cell Fusion Activities of Hantaan Virus Envelope Glycoproteins [PDF]

open access: greenJournal of Virology, 2004
ABSTRACT Hantaan virus (HTNV)-infected Vero E6 cells undergo cell fusion with both infected and uninfected cells under low-pH conditions. Flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy of HTNV-infected Vero E6 cells showed that envelope glycoproteins (GPs) were located both on the cell surface and in the cytoplasm.

Hantaan Virus Triggers TLR3-Dependent Innate Immune Responses [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2009
Abstract Immediately after viral infection, innate responses including expression of IFN-α/β and IFN-stimulated genes (ISGs) are elicited ubiquitously by recruitment of specific pathogen recognition receptors. The velocity to induce IFN-α/β and ISGs in response to an infection is often decisive for virulence.

Two Point Mutations in Old World Hantavirus Glycoproteins Afford the Generation of Highly Infectious Recombinant Vesicular Stomatitis Virus Vectors

open access: yesmBio, 2019
Rodent-to-human transmission of hantaviruses is associated with severe disease. Currently, no FDA-approved, specific antivirals or vaccines are available, and the requirement for high biocontainment (biosafety level 3 [BSL-3]) laboratories limits ...

Pathogenesis of Hantaan Virus in Mice

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1989
The virulence of two virus clones (HV cl-1 and HV cl-2) of Hantaan virus, which were plaque-purified on Vero E6 cells, were compared in suckling mice infected by the intraperitoneal or intracerebral route. HV cl-1 increased the mortality of the mice whereas HV cl-2 did not.

Antigenic mapping and functional characterization of human New World hantavirus neutralizing antibodies

open access: yeseLife, 2023
Hantaviruses are high-priority emerging pathogens carried by rodents and transmitted to humans by aerosolized excreta or, in rare cases, person-to-person contact.

Hantaan Virus: Identification of Virion Proteins

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1984
SDS-PAGE and immunoprecipitation analyses were carried out on the virion and cell-associated proteins of Hantaan virus, the causative agent of haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). Purified virions have a density of 1.17 g/ml in sucrose, and contain four proteins with molecular weights of 45 000 (45K), 56K, 72K and 200K, confirming recent ...

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome:pathogenesis and clinical picture

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2016
Hantaan virus (HTNV) causes hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), which is a zoonosis endemic in eastern Asia, especially in China. The reservoir host of HTNV is field mouse (Apodemus agraricus).

Acalculous cholecystitis associated with Hantaan virus: A case report. [PDF]

open access: yesAnn Hepatobiliary Pancreat Surg, 2019
Acute acalculous cholecystitis (AAC) still remains one of the most elusive diagnoses and occurs in various conditions. Although AACs caused by viral infections are rare, various viruses have been revealed to cause AAC. Here we present a case in which a man suffered from AAC caused by a Hantaan virus infection.

Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome in 4 US Soldiers, South Korea, 2005

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2009
Four US soldiers acquired hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome while training near the Demilitarized Zone, South Korea, in 2005. Hantaan virus sequences were amplified by reverse transcription–PCR from patient serum samples and from lung tissues of ...

Leukemoid Reaction in Complicated Haemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2017
Hantaan Virus (HTNV) infections are mostly associated with fever, haemorrhagic and renal manifestations, known as Haemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS). We herein describe three cases with acute HTNV infection, confirming that HTNV infection may
