Development of doubled haploid maize lines by using in vivo haploid technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The doubled haploid technology is now an integral component of modern maizebreeding programs. In this study, the maternal haploid induction (gynogenesis)method was used to derive Doubled-Haploid (DH) lines from elite maize germplasmadapted to Turkey ...

Maternal haploids are preferentially induced by CENH3-tailswap transgenic complementation in maize

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Doubled haploid plants are invaluable breeding tools but many crop species are recalcitrant to available haploid induction techniques. To test if haploid inducer lines can be engineered into crops, CENH3 -/- and CENH3:RNAi lines were complemented by ...

DNA-free genome editing for ZmPLA1 gene via targeting immature embryos in tropical maize

open access: yesGM Crops & Food, 2023
Doubled haploid (DH) production accelerates the development of homozygous lines in a single generation. In maize, haploids are widely produced by the use of haploid inducer Stock 6, earlier reported in 1959.

Development of Multiple-Heading-Date mtl Haploid Inducer Lines in Rice

open access: yesAgriculture, 2022
In vivo doubled haploid (DH) production based on crossing heterozygous germplasm with mtl haploid inducer lines promises to transform modern rice (Oryza sativa) breeding.

Evaluation of Pollen Samples of Inducer Line with Different Techniques and Pollen Size Effect on Haploid Seed Formation in Maize

open access: yesISPEC Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2023
There is an urgent need to evaluate and optimize use of different sized pollen grains of inducer lines to increase haploid seed production in maize breeding programs.

Haploid induction in tropical supersweet corn and ploidy determination at the seedling stage [PDF]

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2020
: The objective of this work was to determine the possibility of haploid induction in tropical supersweet corn (Zea mays L. var. saccharata) using a maternal inducer, as well as to identify alternative methods for haploid selection. A single-cross hybrid

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

PSMA8‐Containing 20S Proteasome Regulates Spermiogenesis and Male Fertility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PSMA8 assembles s20S proteasome that degrades specific substrates in elongating spermatids. Degradation of s20S‐substrates activates translation of FXR1‐target mRNAs, which are essential for mitochondrial sheath formation and sperm morphogenesis.
